With simulation seismic loads in a laboratory, the vibration table experiment of the liquefied soil improved by soil-cement piles are carried on. a variety of pore water pressure of non-improved and improved soil under the same buried depths and different dry density is utilized to discuss liquefaction effects of soil-cement pile at different dry density. It is revealed that the drainage effects of soil-cement piles is not evident and the liquefaction effects of is not considerable. It should be carefully chosen in engineering applications.

To solve the problem of lateral stability and sealing leakage of the power house of deep, buried, large pumping stations with a parting structure, the power house of the Erjiba Pumping Station of the Eastern Route Project of South-to- North Water Diversion adopts the overall structure without the parting structure. The schemes of the parting structure and overall structure were analyzed and calculated by means of the finite element method. The temperature stress on the bottom plate for the latter scheme was analyzed. The calculated results show that the scheme of the overall structure has advantages such as a rational force, a low stress level, uniform and small settlement, lateral stability and self-balance, and economical project investment. The power house of the Erjiba Pumping Station has undergone two compete winters after the completion of the main structure, and neither visible concrete cracks on the bottom plate nor harmful penetrated cracks on other locations have been found.
