In this paper, the modified formulae have been provided. They can be used to calculate the stress in layers with gaps of a layered cylinder. In order to obtain the modified formulae, a detailed derivation process has also been presented in this paper. Meanwhile, we have clarified the derivation process and application range of Pimshtein's formulae and corrected the errors. We have also indicated the shortcomings of the formulae given by Huang, Chen and Lai, and the ASME code. Finally, a practical example is presented to show how the modified formulae are applied. Calculation results obtained from the modified formulae have been compared with those obtained by finite element method and above mentioned formulae; it shows that the results from the modified formulae are in accordance with finite element results. © 2010 American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Novel urchin-like CdS was synthesized via a facile solvothermal route without any assistant agent. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, high-resolution transmission electron, and photoluminescence spectrophotometer. Based on time-resolved experiments, a possible growth mechanism of 3D urchinlike CdS microspheres was initially proposed. Furthermore, morphology control of CdS was achieved by adjusting the quantity addition of TGA to obtain the 1D CdS nanowires. © Springer-Verlag 2012.

A destructive explosion of a multilayered urea reactor on Mar. 21, 2005 in Shandong Province, China resulted in huge losses. About 10 urea reactors were scrapped in inspection and assessment after the explosion for the reason of layers severely cracking. Three scrapped urea reactors including the explosive reactor were anatomized layer by layer and 12 cracking reactors,and others were investigated for further study. Cracking morphology was observed in detail. Taking account of application conditions, the layer cracking can be divided into four categories: 1) severe cracking from the outmost layer inward, 2) severe cracking from the innermost layer outward, 3) randomly cracking from the outmost layer inward, or the innermost layer outward, or the middle layer, and 4) slight cracking. The reason for the layer cracking is SCC which is proved by means of visual observing the characteristics of the reactor cracking, metallographic experimenting on the samples taken from the cracking regions in the reactor and analyzing the corrosion products in the clearances between layers, the clearances of the cracks, and spills from air vent. The authors analyzed factors which caused different cracking categories from material, stress and media, gave advice on the leak detection of urea reactors: either the quality and flow of the leak detection steam should be strictly controlled, or better leak detection method should be used. The 20G high-pressure pipe is widely used in fertilizer plants and other enterprises. Pipe failures, even explosion accidents, are caused by the strain aging embrittlement. The magnetic characteristics were studied in the process of 20G strain aging. It was found that after plastic deformation, coercive force, remanence, and hysteresis loss increased and the maximum differential permeability decreased. The internal stress of the material was released when aging treatment occurred. The material, physical, and chemical test results were combined and the coercive force which had the biggest change magnitude, strongest direction, and highest measurement accuracy was selected as the characteristic parameters. Based on the impact absorbing energy and criteria impact fracture analysis results, a nondestructive testing scheme for detecting the degree of strain aging embrittlement was obtained. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd

In this paper, a modified weld structure of the layered urea reactor has been provided. In the modified structure, new circumferential weld can improve the stress status of the urea reactor. It has the both advantage of separated and integrated layered pressure vessel. This modified design is based on the stress status analysis and the requirement of leak detection. In order to evaluate the modified structure, stresses of original and modified urea reactor shell with interlayer gaps were calculated via Finite element software ANSYS 12.0. The calculation result shows that the maximum stress of the modified structure is reduced obviously in the same condition, and the leak of liner also can be detected effectively. There is always snaking phenomenon while the crane running. Associated with the snaking phenomenon, the flange wear and the boring noise will emerge. The flange wear has greatly cut down the service life of the wheels, and the noise has an adverse effect upon the stuffs on site. After conducting the analysis of forces, a new kind of structure has been argued through theory analysis and actual test, and the wheel flange lubrication has been introduced.
