The exact expression about the intensity splitting ratio of double Wollaston prism is given based on reflection law, multiple-beam interference and Fresnel formula. The effect of the incident angle, the wavelength of incidence and the cut angle on the splitting ratio is given by Matlab software simulation, which results in the fact that the influence of incident angle, wavelength and cut angle on the intensity splitting ratio is negligible for glue spaced prism, and tremendous for air spaced types. The intensity splitting ratio varies periodically with these parameters for both types prism. Source

A novel design of hollow-core Bragg fibers (HC-BFs) with linearly-chirping distributed dielectric cladding is proposed, for demand of the multi-component trace-gas detection based on the mid-infrared (mid-IR) absorption spectrum. The photonic band-gap (PBG) structures and transmission-loss characteristics for the TE and TM modes under nearly glancing incidence condition in such a quasi-periodic HC-BF are numerically investigated and compared with a conventional one with periodic cladding. The results show that the quasi-periodic cladding can effectively enlarge the PBG width by increasing the linear increment of cladding period and dielectric-layer number. The enlargement effect enhances with the increment of both structure parameters. Meanwhile, the central wavelength of the PBG shifts to the longer wavelength. In the enlarged wavelength range of PBG, the HC-BF with linearly-chirping distributed dielectric cladding still has the low loss, in the order of 0.01 dB/m, showing the excellent performance of mid-IR low-loss broadband transmission. The novel ternary europium(III) complex is synthesized. The photophysical sensitization process involves an energy transfer from functional hemicyanine (aminostyrylpyridinium) cation. The sensitization mechanism follows the Förster, which is significantly different from the Dexter, the most commonly used energy transfer mechanism from ligand. When the complex is dissolved in a variety of solvents (acetone, dimethylformamide, ethanol and acetonitrile), a remarkable solvent effect is observed. The emission intensity of europium(III) complex in acetonitrile is much stronger than that in other solvents. The solvent effect on the photophysical properties is studied. The result indicates that the solvent influences the emission intensity by aid of many factors not only polarity. Source

According to three composite wave-plate theory and simulated annealing algorithm, a mica achromatic half wave-plate used in visible range is designed. Theoretical analysis shows that the retardation deviation of this device is within 2% covering the spectrum scope of 400-700 nm. This device has been measured over the visible range by normalized polarizing modulation measurement. The retardation deviation is within 4.8% based on the average equivalent fast axis. The retardation deviation of the device is within 2.9% based on the equivalent fast axis corresponds to the measuring wavelength. This mica achromatic half wave-plate can be applied in many fields.
