The industrial application effort of charged droplets is influenced directly by droplet atomization and charged characteristics. Under constant water spray volume and different atomization characteristics adjusted by changing atomization pressure, the interrelationships of droplet atomization and charged characteristics were studied by mesh target method and PDA. The phenomenon of droplets sucked back by electrode ring in induction charging process was also analyzed. The results show that droplets can acquire higher charge-mass ratio through improving atomization characteristics. But the further effect of high charge-mass ratio on droplet atomization characteristics is comparatively weak, especially when droplet diameter is small. The droplets mass sucked back by electrode ring can be affected by droplet atomization and charged characteristics. The effect of changing droplets charge-mass ratio on droplets mass sucked back is more obvious when atomization pressure is low. With increasing atomization pressure gradually, the atomization pressure becomes the main factor that controlls droplets mass sucked back. Regulating atomization pressure is an effective method to meet the demand of droplet atomization and charged characteristics in industrial applications.
