Shandong Asia Pacific SSYMB Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. has paid great attention to innovation research and practice application of cleaner production technology since it was found. More than 20 national patents with independent intellectual property rights were granted, a number of cleaner production projects, such as sludge dewatering and burning, biological sludge burning in alkali recovery boiler, process tail gas collection and cleaning, chemical plant by-product hydrogen gas was applied to lime kiln as fuel, municipal sewage reuse by cleaning, pulping wastewater reuse with membrane treatment technology. Achieved the results with leading and advanced level domestically and internationally. APRIL SSYMB company built the world's largest single pulp production line, using the most advanced Compact Cooking G-2 pulp production process, with energy-saving and emission reduction technology, all the indexes of cleaner production reached the internationally advanced level. This paper described the cleaner production achievements of APPRIL SSYMB, and discussed APPRIL SSYMB mill cleaner production technology practice from pulping process, energy-saving, water-saving and wastes treatment aspects.

Since its founding, APRIL (Asia Pacific Resources International Limited) has followed an integrated "forestry, pulp and paper" development strategy by plantation for carbon sequestration and rotating harvesting for pulp and paper production. The total investment in SSMYB Phase 1 and Phase 2 for environmental protection was 3.63 billion RMB, the highest among all Chinese pulp mills. Based on national authority's assessment, SSYMB's effluent pollutants are less than the limit set up by the European, American and Japanese standards, among the most advanced levels of cleaner production in the world. Employing the world's most advanced technologies in energy-saving, water conservation and waste treatments, SSYMB reaches water reuse rate of 90%, alkali recovery rate of 99.3%, black liquor recovery rate of 100% and energy self-sufficient rate of above 90%.

The primary settled sludge & tertiary flotation sludge of pulp and paper wastewater treatment plant(WWT) , With pre-dehydration first to dryness 15% . And then mixed with the original sludge and deep dewatering to dryness > 38% by new high-pressure filter press made of polypropylene chamber. The broken semi-dry cake of sludge mixed with the pulp residue, fines, coal to CFBB for Co-Firing & Power Generation, extraction steam supplied to mill. The secondary bio-sludge generated in WWT, concentrated to dryness 8% ~ 10% by high efficiency decanter centrifuge, and the thick slurry mixed with the pulp WBL to multi-effect evaporation, the HBL(dryness > 70%) evaporated into a super-firing black-liquid(FBL, dryness > 80%) by super concentrator, and then HBL pumped to the RB for co-firing & power generation, extraction steam supplied to mill.

The factors influencing domestic fast-growing eucalyptus KP pulping performance were discussed. The influences of the over-thick chips, chip length, heart wood chips, wood species and growing period of the wood on the KP pulping yield and pulp quality were studied, and the concerned application suggestions were given herein.
