This work is based on the dry sliding wear of NiCrBSi reinforced coating deposited on TA15 titanium alloy using the laser cladding technique, the parameters of which were such as to provide almost crack-free coatings with minimum dilution and very low porosity. SEM results indicated that a laser clad coating with metallurgical joint to the substrate was formed. Compared with TA15 substrate, an improvement of the micro-hardness and wear resistance was observed for this composite coating. Rare earth oxide Y 2O 3 was beneficial in producing of the amorphous phases in laser clad coating. With addition of Y 2O 3, more amorphous alloys were produced, which increased the micro-hardness and wear resistance of the coating. © 2012 World Scientific Publishing Company. Source

Metoprolol is widely used in cardiology for the treatment of hypertension and arrhythmia. The neuropsychiatric adverse reactions associated with the use of beta-blockers are relatively uncommon, but sometimes take place when poisoning or overdosing on elderly patients. We present a case of a young patient with low-dose metoprolol which induced acute delirium and in whom the symptoms disappeared within 3 days after metoprolol was ceased. The results illustrated that the neuropsychiatric adverse reactions of metoprolol could be developed not only in elderly patients but also in young patients, which has great significance to direct physicians in their clinical practice. © 2013 Elsevier Inc. Purpose-Because of the inconvenience and inflexibility of the laser controller, the applied range of optogenetics is limited. This paper aims to present the design of a portable remote-controlled laser controller system, including the remote-controlled system and the laser stimulator. Design/methodology/approach-The remote-controlled system is handheld, which can wirelessly adjust the power and the emitting frequency of the laser by utilizing the ZigBee module. Findings-The laser stimulator can be mounted on the animal as it is light weight (35 g) and small in size (40 × 40 × 20 mm), and its power and frequency can be appropriately adjusted by changing the current amplitude and duty radio. In the end, the experiments verify the reliability and effectiveness of the laser controller. Originality/value-In virtue of the modular design of the driven circuit and the reasonable layout, the whole system has the advantages of small volume, convenient control and high stability, which provide the convenience for the development of portable optogenetics animal robot experiment and has broad market prospects. © Emerald Group Publishing Limited. This work was based on the dry sliding wear of Al-Cu-Sn matrix composite coating deposited on titanium using laser alloying technique, the parameters of which were such as to provide almost crack-free coatings with minimum dilution and very low porosity. To our knowledge, it is the first time that Al-Cu-Sn+B4 C mixed powders were deposited as hard coating by laser alloying technique. Scanning electron microscopy results indicated that a laser alloying coating with metallurgical joint to the substrate was formed, and hard fine particles were produced in the matrix of the upper coating due to the in situ metallurgical reactions. Compared with titanium substrate, improvement of the microhardness and wear resistance were observed for such composite coating. Source
