In this paper, the Al-8.5Fe-1.3V-1.7Si alloys were fabricated by spray forming and extrusion process. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were investigated by means of metallographic, scanning electron microscope and tensile test. The results indicate that the tensile strength of the extrued alloys can reach 353MPa, the yield strength 300MPa, elongation 19.12%, at room temperature. At 250°C, the tensile strength of the extrued alloys can reach 221MPa, the yield strength 208MPa, elongation 13.33%.© (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In order to study liquefaction and failure law of the tailings under the action of blasting vibration, series blasting experiments were done in dry beaches of a small abandoned tailings dam. The explosives was buried in the tailings dry beach face, blasting created blasting crater and arc shaped cracks, and accompanied by sand boil and water eruption. By installing blasting vibration velocity and acceleration sensors on tailings dam dry beach to measure corresponding blasting vibration velocity and acceleration, regression analyses on experimental data, the blasting vibration velocity and acceleration which can cause tailings sand liquefaction and damage are respectively 23.94cm/s and 4.38m/s2. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
