A new insecticidal lignan, phrymarolin B, was isolated from the whole plants of Phryma leptostachya L. Its structure was elucidated as 1-hydroxy-2-(3′,4′-methylenedioxy)phenoxy-6-(2″-hydroxy- 3″,4″-methylenedioxy)phenyl-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane mainly by analyses of NMR and MS spectral data. Phrymarolin B was evaluated for insecticidal activity against the early fourth-instar larvae of Mythimna separata, and exhibited moderate insecticidal activity against the early fourth-instar larvae of M. separata. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York. Three compounds were isolated from the root barks of Periploca sepium. Their structures have been identified from physicochemical evidence and by spectral methods (MS, 2D NMR, and 1D TOCSY). These compounds are a new pregnane glycoside (periplocoside P) and two known oligosaccharides. Insecticidal activity bioassay showed that periplocoside P has insecticidal activity against the 3rd-instar larvae of Pseudaletia separata and Plutella xylostella. The LD50 values after 48 h were 10.8 and 3.6 μg · larva-1, respectively. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York. Source
