Restrike during interrupting capacitor banks with vacuum circuit breakers may lead to severe switching overvoltage. Reducing the probability of restrike during capacitive current breaking is the ultimate solution to suppress overvoltage. In this paper, a new design of vacuum circuit breaker with a very low probability of restrike was proposed based on the analysis of restrike mechanism. A two-break vacuum circuit breaker was presented to carry out the duty of capacitor bank switching, and further meet the requirement of power system. A capacitive current switching test circuit has been designed, which consists of a high frequency inrush current circuit and a power frequency circuit, to perform back-to-back capacitor banks switching test. The test result shows that two-break vacuum circuit breakers can reduce the probability of restrike significantly. Short-circuit making and breaking capacity of the vacuum circuit breaker was validated by synthetic test. The optimum value of the shunt grading capacitor is 400 pF to ensure the stress of each break is approximately equal. So the design scheme of 40.5 kV two-break vacuum circuit breaker for switching capacitor banks is completely feasible. © 2016, Xi'an High Voltage Apparatus Research Institute Co., Ltd. The cracking phenomena of embedded pole appeared in recent years are analyzed. The influencing factors of cracking problem of the cured epoxy resin for embedded pole are discussed by considering some actual cases, such as product structure, epoxy resin formulation, pressure injection process, curing process, injection mold structure, and debugging process. The cracking failure mechanism of epoxy resin injection material is explored and comes to a conclusion that due to the presence of internal stress and defects, the defects and micro-cracks inside the cured epoxy resin would propagate to result in cracking failure when subject to temperature change or external mechanical shock. Further, some preventive measures against cracking problem of the cured epoxy resin for embedded pole are proposed.

Some Reasonable proposals and measures were introduced for the substitution between the products under different frequency. It was to supply references to the domestic manufacturers on the export business.

Based on the Slade's critical field theory, we investigate the vacuum insulation characteristics between a pair of contacts in a 126 kV vacuum interrupter. In the case of long vacuum contact gap(60mm) and AC voltage(50 Hz), we obtain the relationship between critical breakdown field strength and contact gap.
