Parathyroid scintigraphy has seen its indications widen in recent years due to its high specificity and localizing value. Indeed, it is increasingly indicated before first parathyroid surgery, thereby shortening the response time and achieve a minimally invasive surgery. With the advent of hybrid imaging (SPECT/CT), bringing together both functional and anatomical information, the parathyroid scintigraphy has allowed a more accurate location of head and neck ectopic adenomas. We report the case of a patient with primary hyperparathyroidism and whose parathyroid scintigraphy has objectified a focal uptake projecting opposite the thyroid isthmus, mimicking a suspect nodule on planar images. The performed SPECT/CT permitted to rectify the diagnosis and to highlight a prevertebral adenoma located in retro-tracheal to the tune of the seventh cervical vertebra. © 2015. Source

Children's septic pulmonary embolism in a rare event and is one of the main complications of infective endocarditis involving the right heart. It must be suspected in a chest pain and presence of vegetation on tricuspid valve and/or pulmonary artery by echocardiography. In this indication, lung scintigraphy has a double interest; it allows the non-invasive diagnosis of pulmonary embolism and confirmation of a such complication has strong prognostic and therapeutic implications in the patient management. We report the case of a 6-year-old girl who was referred for suspected pulmonary embolism in the context of infective endocarditis with vegetations of pulmonary artery bifurcation side. Lung perfusion scintigraphy performed in this child confirmed the diagnosis by showing defects wedge-shaped what made discuss a possible surgical management of these vegetations. Management was the intensification of antibiotherapy initially and clinical outcomes were favorable with vegetations disappearance on echocardiography control. © 2015. Source
