Since early in 2000, Korean character industry flourished with Mashimaro and Pucca, and until the Little Penguin Pororo, the present child market has been filled with so many characters. Lately, with theme exhibits of various characters established and a new distribution market with the media mix and offline and online opened, the industry has been expanded even more. Under the topic of "As to the character design, which proportional structure is the most excellent one?", this study will discuss a basic shape of all other character shapes with the most preferred proportion. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

This study is aimed at looking at the integrated visual communication design from the integrated perspective, going off the past single strategy, and thus explore the theoretical validity of the concept. The integrated visual communication design is categorized into five areas-identity design, advertising design, information design, package POP design and digital media design, and was reconfigured as a festival event design platform after being changed and supplemented into the specific items of a festival event. In conclusion, this study tried to propose an integrated visual communication design evaluation-word preference network model of the festival event design and improve the practicability of the model through the preparation of a checklist. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The vibrational characteristics of automotives during idling were studied experimentally by considering the axial forces of the drive shaft and the spider positions in a constant-velocity joint. The generated forces, such as PF (plunging force) and GAF (generated axial force) in the assembly of the drive-shaft module, were measured directly by an experimental apparatus. Measurements of the GAF and PF did not show the same trends as the joint angles. They depended instead on the types of CV joints. In addition, the relationship between the offset values of the shaft and the spider positions in the tulip of the constant-velocity joint were studied. As a result, the idle vibration characteristics were affected by the variation of the spider positions and the vibrational characteristics in the axial direction of the shaft, including the amplitude and the harmonic periods. © 2010 The Korean Society of Automotive Engineers and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Encryption algorithms are used to protect data, but encrypted data depend on the safety of the key used in the encryption algorithm, so it is very important to generated a key that cannot be easily inferred for a safer protection of data. For this, in order to broaden the choice of keys used in encryption algorithm, this paper proposed the method to generate a key table by expanding the previously proposed elliptic curve algorithm to real number field, and the proposed method was applied to Android-based smartphone cryptosystem for verification. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The demands for GPS have explosively increased in various areas such as geodetic survey, car navigation, geophysics and weather. But countless time and efforts are required to process GPS data so that automation of data processing is in definite need to solve this issue. Therefore this research had developed a console application which automatizes GPS data processing based on C# and Bernese 5.0. By generating favorable performance of GPS data processing test with deviations of 0.0140m in maximum in notification achievement latitude, longitude, and ellipsoidal height direction, this research suggested possibility of data processing automation though developed application.

This study examines the influence of illuminance variation on visual perception and mood in a small office. Field measurements and annoyance tests were performed in a full-scale mock-up office space. Subjects conducted paper-based and computer-based reading tasks when six instantaneous fluctuation ranges were given under 500 lx and 650 lx base level conditions. Results indicate that equal amounts of instantaneous illuminance fluctuation could influence visual perception differently under these two base level conditions. Visual annoyance under the 500 lx base level was more severe than that under the 650 lx base level. The acceptable illuminance fluctuation ranges that did not cause visual annoyance under 500 lx base level conditions were 141.3 lx for paper-based tasks and 187.3 lx for computer-based tasks. Under 650 lx base level conditions, the acceptable ranges were 200.3 lx and 252.4 lx for paper-based and computer-based tasks respectively. The mean mood and perception responses for visual thresholds under the 650 lx base level showed more positive feelings than those under the 500 lx base level. Multiple linear predictive models showed that feelings of visual sensitiveness to illuminance variation, visual distraction, and stimulation were significant contributors to visual annoyance under fluctuating illuminance conditions. © The Author(s) 2012 Reprints and permissions: sagepub.co.uk/journalsPermissions.nav.

An abnormal vibration accident caused by human rhythmic excitations occurred in the upper floors of a 39 story steel building in Seoul, Korea. In this paper, the effects of human rhythmic excitations on the global vertical vibration of a high-rise steel building were evaluated. Experimental tests were conducted to measure the natural frequencies and the floor acceleration responses of the building. Also, using three-dimensional finite element model, the vertical natural frequency of the building was estimated by conducting modal analysis, and time history analyses were performed by applying the various human rhythmic excitations to the floor slab of a fitness center in the 12th floor of the building. The modal analysis results verified that the building has the global vertical vibration mode of 2.7 Hz natural frequency which was identified by experimental tests. The vertical accelerations of the floors resulting from the time history analyses also agreed very well with the experimental results. Finally, it was concluded that the resonance phenomenon between building structure and human rhythmic excitations with the step frequency of 2.7 Hz caused the abnormal vertical vibration accident of the building. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.

Due to the rapid increase of internet users, internet shopping malls in Korea are growing at a very rapid rate, though a structural vulnerability is also being revealed. About 55.8% of internet users in Korea use internet shopping malls. Therefore, to enlarge the sizes of internet shopping markets, it is paramount to attract shoppers who do not currently shop on the internet. In this regard, this study analysed the characteristics of internet shoppers and non-internet shoppers from diverse aspects based on surveys conducted on 4298 subjects residing across Korea, using 28 consumer lifestyle measurement items. The results of the analysis indicated that non-internet shoppers are married, earning relatively high incomes, and have little experience in accessing the internet. A Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detection (CHAID) analysis was conducted, and the result indicated that internet shoppers pursued the product/service information from internet shopping, but non-internet shoppers did not want to use credit cards during internet shopping. Based on the above mentioned study results, it was attempted to present detail strategies for internet shopping mall businesses to attract non-internet shoppers to internet shopping markets. © 2013 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.

Production of proteins in secretary form is one of the important factors affecting fermentation. The Tat (twin arginine translocation) protein secretion system, which includes the proteins TatA, TatB, and TatC, was identified in the genomic sequence of Streptomyces griseus IFO13350. The tatA and tatC genes were organized into a polycistronic operon, whereas tatB was located separately on the chromosome. Comparison of amino acid sequences suggested that TatC was a membrane-spanning protein, whereas TatA and TatB were found to be cytoplasmic proteins. Analysis of extracellular proteins and N-terminal amino acid sequencing revealed that secretion of SGR5556 was significantly enhanced by overexpression of TatAC in S. griseus HH1. Further, enzymatic study showed that SGR5556 encoded a glycerophosphoryl diester phosphodiesterase. In addition, other hydrolase activities, such as those of amylase, total protease, metalloprotease, trypsin, chymotrypsin, and Leuaminopeptidase, were also enhanced by 3, 3, 2.6, 2.3, 5.4, and 2.5 fold, respectively, in S. griseus upon TatAC overexpression. Overexpression of TatAC induced the production of a greenish-yellow pigment in S. griseus HH1 as well as more abundant sporulation at an earlier stage in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2). In silico analysis by TatFIND, SignalP, and TMHMM identified 19 binding proteins, 28 enzymatic proteins, and 27 other proteins with unknown functions as putative TatAC-dependent secretary proteins. These results clearly indicate that TatA and TatC constitute a functional Tat system in S. griseus. Additionally, the S. griseus Tat system can be useful for the production of valuable proteins, including many hydrolytic enzymes and candidates of Tat-dependent secretary proteins, under industrial conditions. © The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering and Springer 2011.

Brand is a concept like an equity which is continuously cultivated and accumulated for a long time. As the result of K-BPI supervised by KMAC, Morning Glory is at the top of high-royalty brand in the general category of consumer goods by taking the first for 11 years in succession, in the part of general stationary among the consumer goods' general parts. After extracting components of brand valuation, main characteristics of Morning Glory are arranged and current environment of brand is examined, so this study will be a guidance to establish the direction of brand policy. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
