Through the consolidated undrained triaxial shear testing of remolded soils with different water contents, the normalized features of stress-strain curves were studied, with consideration of two standard normalized factors: the confining pressure and the ultimate value of principle stress difference. Prediction models of stress-strain curves were established using the hyperbolic equation and the BP neural network, respectively. Comparison of the prediction results of the two models shows that the prediction model based on the BP neural network can take into account the influences of the initial water content and confining pressure and has better fitting and prediction accuracy than that based on the hyperbolic equation.

Analysis on the reliability test of historical earthquake dislocated that an entire record of Ms5 and larger earthquake is from 1336, most seismic records have been lost before 1336. Recent year, seismic and archaeological departments use the turning to archaeology and engineering excavation a larger scale, catalog recognition analysis the deformation relic since Late Quaternary especially the Neolithic age. The results showed that, some prehistoric earthquake ruins are found respectively in the cultural layer of Western Zhou Dynasty-Spring and Autumn period in southwestern Anhui, Late Dawenkou in northern Anhui and the eastern Zhou Dynasty in southeastern Henan. In the border area of Jiangsu and Anhui of Tancheng-Lujiang fault zone, several times rapid deformation events with diagonal translational thrust as the primary means, have been occurred, since the Late Pleistocene, the latter confirmed by microscopic research. The results of the study a certain extent compensate the limitations of seismic records, and rich in Archaeology and prehistoric earthquakes and earthquake prediction research methods.

A high performance hybrid material of goethite mixed with pyrite roasting product was prepared as a basic material for water purification. The structure evolution, microstructure and characteristic of annealed goethite in the presence of pyrite at different temperatures under nitrogen atmosphere were investigated. The structure of the product after calcinations was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurement and scanning electron microcopy and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis, respectively. The results show that the evolution process of goethite after annealing in the presence of pyrite involves there is a sole transformation of goethite into hematite at <500℃., The formed hematite reacts with the sulfur derived from the decomposition of pyrite at >500℃. The main product formed at 550℃ is magnetite with the magnetic susceptibility of 204×10-6m3/kg. The formed hematite and magnetite keep the original shape of goethite that finally transforms into granular pyrrhotite at >550℃, and the particle size of the formed product increases with increasing the temperature. It is indicated that pyrrhotite can be prepared by annealing the mixture of goethite and hematite. The formed pyrrhotite can be used as a promising material for the adsorption of phosphate. ©, 2014, Chinese Ceramic Society. All right reserved.
