Tiruchirapalli popularly called 'Rock city' is industrially sound city and many pilgrim centres are surrounding it leading to increase of noise level in the city. Noise levels have been measured outside twenty major hospitals in Tiruchirapalli 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening from November 2007 to February 2008. Traffic noise index (TNI) has also been evaluated during this period. It is observed that ambient noise-levels around all the hospitals in the present study are beyond the standard prescribed by the Central Pollution Control Board, India. To asses the quality of the drinking water provided by the hospital has been estimated. The CO level near the traffic signal has also been measured. © 2010 - Kalpana Corporation. Source
