Typhoon is one of main meteorological disasters in China, while the Doppler weather radar is a new tool to study mechanism and structural feature of the disastrous weather. To further enhance the accuracy and timeliness of typhoon disaster assessment, typhoon disaster real - time assessment system was developed depending on ARCGIS software platform, which was based on the advanced Doppler weather radar to gain precipitation, intensity of precipitation, the maximum wind speed of typhoon as the dynamic factor, and relative height, slope and the economical vulnerability as the static factor, and by use of the theory of extenics the typhoon disaster assessment model was established. Visualization of typhoon disaster assessment was realized, which will be of benefit to policy-making service of typhoon disaster prevention disaster reduction.
