Seismic coherence is a popular attribute intended to image discontinuities caused by variations in structure, stratigraphy, lithology, porosity, and the presence of hydrocarbons. We improve the technology of computing and utilizing this attribute. After analyzing the relation of this attribute to the supposed mathematical model of seismic data, we present a new method for estimating coherence. It is based on a more realistic data model that permits arbitrary variations of both signal amplitudes and noise variances between the traces participating in coherence calculation. Moreover, a generalized approach to enhance the horizontal resolving power of any coherence measure is suggested. The new methods are tested on synthetic and field data.

An unconformity has been observed along the Black Sea shelf on seismic reflection profiles and wells which is broadly similar to the one associated with that formed during the Messinian salinity crisis (MSC) in the Mediterranean. Therefore, this intra- (or Middle) Pontian unconformity has been traditionally interpreted as the manifestation of the MSC in the Black Sea Basin. However, the magnitude of the sea-level fall associated with this erosive surface does not appear to be nearly as significant as was assumed previously. Also, the inferred MSC surface itself cannot be easily followed into the palaeo-deepwater basin as a regional unconformity in the same manner as in the Mediterranean. Moreover, around the Black Sea, there is no evidence of major river incisions during the MSC, unlike the well-documented cases in the Mediterranean region. If the MSC evaporites in the Mediterranean indeed deposited in a subaerial setting at the basin floor, the lack of a major drawdown in the Black Sea explains why there are no Messinian evaporites in the Black Sea. Owing to the approximately 500 m MSC sea-level drop the Black Sea basin system, this basin did not even get close to the conditions required for the formation of evaporites in the basin centre. As the magnitude of the sea-level drop and the overall impact of the MSC in the Black Sea is interpreted to be less significant than in the Mediterranean, the risk of breaching pre-existing hydrocarbon traps during the MSC is less than has been suggested before. © 2016 The Author(s). The article is devoted to well-logging data preparation before seismic inversion is applied. The essential impact of raw well-logging data (sonic and density logs) on reservoir properties prediction accuracy is demonstrated. The main factors that have the influence on the input data quality are appointed. On the one of the example of gas field located in the Ukrainian part of the Black Sea the results of specialized techniques for well-logging data quality improving are shown. Determining the optimal number and location of production (injection) wells is one of the key issues in theory and practice of oil and gas field development. The success of drilling and further exploitation of wells and also the efficiency of implemented system development of the field depends on the quality of decision making when choosing the location of wells. For determine the optimal horizontal well trajectory propose using synthetic property of oil and gas fields-3D model of the potentiality intensity of fluid filtration. Developed method provide determination of optimal horizontal well trajectory considering of existing limitation to ensure the efficiency of further drilling process and high production parameters of the wells: the initial flow rate, duration of anhydrous production, cumulative production etc.

Accurate estimates of the seismic quality factor Q enable seismic images with a better resolution and a more correct positioning of events to be obtained. Also, Q can successfully be utilized for lithology discrimination and reservoir characterization. We introduce further improvements of our method for continuous in time measurements of seismic attenuation along the trace. The method operates in the time domain and enables the corruptive impact of the reflectivity to be compensated in a straightforward twostep way. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated with synthetic data from a finely layered attenuating medium and with field data from a productive area in Ukraine.

The important element of effective fields development is rational placing of wells on the area of production formation. Solving of this problem in the conditions of heterogeneous on a section and area collectors with the use of traditional methods not always successful. The offered method in the single complex of projecting of development systems with the use of geological-hydrodynamic models allows to optimize the task of choice of rational variant of oil and gas deposit development based on using 3D model of potentiality intensity of fluids filtration. The models may be used in prediction and search of traps, reservoirs and deposits of hydrocarbons in serpukhovian sediments in Dnieper-Doneck basin.
