Studies are made of the effect of structural and processing parameters on the reproducibility of the thermal conductivity of high-density carbon-carbon composites reinforced in three and four directions. The mechanical, physical, and thermophysical properties of the carbon semifinished products are investigated and the factors that determine the average thermal conductivity of the material are ranked in importance. It is established that the property indices required for the material are reproduced when the specified manufacturing conditions are maintained. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Results are presented from a study of the changes in characteristics of the pore structure, gas permeability, and mechanical properties of materials UPA-3 and UPA-4, which are based on knitted and fabric fillers. The textiles of the materials have different structures and are based on carbon fibers (which are obtained using oxidized polyacrylonitrile and different grades of viscose). The changes in the characteristics are examined in relation to the degree of pre-compression of the materials and the length of time that they undergo compaction with pyrolytic carbon and graphite. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
