The internal pipe wall of the Electromagnetic Flowmeter (EMFM) must be nonconductive to prevent the generated electromotive force from short-circuiting. Usually the inside of metallic pipes is lined with insulating material. The lining limits the applicable temperature range of measured fluid and also its reliability. A new structure is proposed, in which the insulating liner is eliminated and replaced with non-insulation material. A potential distribution is formed on the pipe wall by applying voltage proportional to fluid flow rate. The potential distribution is decided by the conducting pipe wall. In this paper theoretical analysis and experimental results of EMFM with noninsulation pipe wall are described. ©2017 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Thymocyte trafficking has an important role in thymic selection. Here we show that the Hippo homologue Mst1 is required for thymocyte migration and antigen recognition by LFA-1 and ICAM-1 within the medulla. Using two-photon imaging of thymic tissues, we found that highly motile mature thymocytes arrest and are activated in the vicinity of rare populations of Aire + ICAM-1 hi medullary thymic epithelia in a negatively selecting environment. Notably, Mst1 deficiency or blocking the cell adhesion molecules LFA-1 and ICAM-1 results in inefficient migration and antigen recognition of CD4+ thymocytes within the medulla. Consistent with these defects, thymocyte selection is impaired in Mst1-/- mice, which display T cell-dependent inflammatory infiltrates in multiple organs and develop autoantibodies. Our results suggest that Mst1 has a key role in regulating thymocyte self-antigen recognition in the medulla. © 2012 Macmillan Publishers Limited. All rights reserved.

Efficient and generic enantioselective discrimination of various chiral alcohols is achieved by using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy through charge-transfer (CT) contributions. The relative intensities of the peaks in the SERS spectra of a chiral selector are strongly dependent on the chirality of its surroundings. This highly distinct spectral discrepancy may be due to the tendency of chiral isomers to form intermolecular hydrogen-bonding complexes with the chiral selector in different molecular orientations, resulting in different CT states and SERS intensities of the adsorbates in the system. This study opens a new avenue leading to the development of novel enantiosens-ing strategies. A particular advantage of this approach is that it is label-free and does not employ any chiral reagents, including chiral light. © 2014 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.

Infrared (IR) and near infrared (NIR) spectra were measured for methanol and the methanol-pyridine complex in carbon tetrachloride. Upon the formation of the methanol-pyridine complex, the frequencies of both the fundamental and first overtone bands of the OH stretching vibration shifted to lower frequencies, and the absorption intensity of the fundamental increased significantly, while that of the first overtone decreased markedly. By using quantum chemical calculations, we estimated the absorption intensities and frequencies of the fundamental and first overtone bands for the OH stretching vibration based on the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation. The calculated results well reproduced the experimental results. The molecular vibration potentials and dipole moment functions of the OH stretching vibration modes were compared between methanol and the methanol-pyridine complex in terms of absorption intensity changes and frequency shifts. The large change in the dipole moment function was found to be the main cause for the variations in absorption intensity for the fundamental and first overtone bands. © the Owner Societies 2016.

In modern life, more and more work needs to be done in sitting position. So sitting comfort is of vital importance. However, comfort was always different by personal feelings. This paper studied the evaluation of sitting comfort in the way of comparing subjective comfort scales and objective computer data, which was carried out by the equipment of X-sensor pressure distribution system. Through two experiments and with formulas analysis, materials of chairs were evaluated of their comfort characteristics. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

However in biosystems, the heat and chemical compositions with mas and momentum are coupled. The macroscopic volume-averaged transport model is presented in the previous paper. The present study tries to unveil the images of career women depicted on the internet within the framework of corpus linguistics. Based on web corpora, internet reportage of women from the fields of education, politics, business, media, medicine, law, and tourist industry are investigated. Through collocate analysis, it is found that all the above career women demonstrate unfavorable semantic prosody, a unique local semantic prosody on the internet. The unfavorable collocates can be further classified into the semantic sets of erotic events, misfortunes and job scandals. However, through Keyword analysis of reportage of women in China’s mainstream newspapers, there presents a quite positive women image. Finally, the author makes possible interpretations of the causes of the violation of semantic prosody on the web and possible consequences it will bring, with two solutions being suggested at the end. © 2012, Australian International Academic Centre PTY LTD. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the capability of a miniaturized Raman endoscope (mRE) system to monitor the advancement of colorectal tumors in model mice as a method that is noninvasive to the tumor itself. Nevertheless, the endoscope is narrow enough to observe the inside of the mouse colon in such a way that is semi-noninvasive to the animal. However, the mRE system allowed the visualization and Raman spectral measurement of any targeted point within the colorectal tumor in model mice under anesthesia, without damaging the tissue (i.e., noninvasively). Continuous monitoring of the same tumor allowed the observation of alterations in its molecular composition and size, along with its advancement. The tumor lesion was discriminated from normal tissues of the control mouse with an accuracy of 86.8%. We succeeded in visualizing and performing Raman spectral observations on a shrinking polyp type tumor. The Raman analysis suggested that it was not cured but supposedly transformed to another tumor type. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2013.

Compared with the huge demand of work forces in Chinese e-business, it is not optimistic about the career opportunity for graduates with e-commerce major at national level. The e-commerce employment rate is much lower than other business major averagely. Aiming at accelerating the reform of higher education system in e-commerce academic program, this paper presents a study on the knowledge structure of talents in applied e-commerce with vocational skills.
