Colposcopy is a medical diagnostic procedure to examine an illuminated, magnified view of the cervix by a colposcope. Colposcopic images are acquired in raw form, contains major cervix lesions, regions outside the cervix and parts of the imaging devices such as speculum. In this paper, a preprocessing method that removes the irrelevant information from the cervical images based on Mathematical morphology and clustering based on Gaussian Mixture Modeling is presented. The detection of specularities in cervix image is based on intensity and saturation information from the HSI colour space is presented. A novel approach to detect the lesion in the cervix image based on statistical features and Bayes classifier is presented. The detection of lesion is achieved by extracting the statistical features such as mean, standard deviation and skewness and the features are used as an input to the Bayes classifier. Segmentation results are evaluated on 240 images of colposcopy. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Colposcopy is one of the methods for cervical cancer screening that uses visual testing based on the color change of abnormal cells that turn white when exposed to acetic acid called AacetoWhite (AW) region. In this paper, a novel approach to detect the AW region in the cervix image based on statistical features and Bayes classifier is presented. Colposcopic images are acquired in raw form, contains cervix, regions outside the cervix and parts of the imaging devices. In the preprocessing stage the irrelevant information in the cervical images are removed based on Mathematical morphology and Gaussian Mixture Modeling and also specularities are removed based on HSI colour space. Micro calcifications are the symptom which enables us to detect the breast cancer at an early stage. In this paper, a new technique is proposed for the earlier identification of breast cancer. In this proposed technique, initially the suspicious regions containing micro calcifications in digital mammograms are extracted and then they are classified into two categories i.e., whether they contain benign or malignant cancer cells. The performance of the classification is mainly depends on the selection and usage of precise features. In the proposed technique, the visual content features as well as the biological features are extracted for the classification and the extracted visual content features are subjected to two phase clustering process for obtaining the feature combination in order to achieve better performance. The proposed mammogram classification technique is performed in two sections namely learning section and classification section. Here, the learning of extracted features as well as the classification is done by using the Support Vector Machine classifier. The proposed approach is tested and its results are analyzed to visualize the performance. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2012.

In this study multi port AC/DC-DC single stage power electronics converter proposed for grid power supply. The topology includes reduced number of active element and passive element. Passive element is used to provide to achieve improved voltage gain and to reduce the voltage stress of input side switches. The active-clamp circuits are used to recycle the energy stored in the leakage inductors and to improve the system performances. Here two input port (wind and battery unit) and output port connected to dc grid, battery act as charge unit and source. Efficient wind power conversion is achieved by PFC boost dc-dc converter. Controlled and high step up voltage is supplied to multi-port converter from wind source. © Maxwell Scientific Organization, 2014.

Communication has always been on the rise especially when it comes to the transmission of video signals. The problems faced by video transmission include consumption of large bandwidth and video quality at the receiving side. This can be overcome by having a propervideo coding and proper control over the rate of transmission based on channel conditions. In our paper, we focus on these areas and present transmission control technique for wireless video transmission over UWB channel. In our technique, the major emphasis lies on the H.264 encoder and the use of fuzzy controller. The technique comprises of three modules, namely transmission module, control module and receiver module. Proposed technique is implemented using Matlab and the evaluation metrics used are BER and MSE. Comparative analysis is made by comparing our proposed technique to the SamiaShimuet al.[1] results. From the results, the net average BER came about 0.034 for the base compared to 0.032 for the proposed technique and net average MSE came about 117 for the base compared to 48.8 for the proposedtechnique. The obtained values show the effectiveness of the proposed technique by having lower MSE and BER values. © 2005 - 2014 JATIT & LLS. All rights reserved.

A Multimedia transmission such as video streaming over wireless networks has grown dramatically in recent years. The downlink transmission of multiple video sequences to multiple users over a shared resource-limited wireless channel, however, is a tough task. We face many challenges in this area like time-varying channel conditions, limited available resources, such as bandwidth and power, and the different transmission requirements of different video content. This work takes into account the time-varying nature of the wireless channels, as well as the importance of individual video packets, to develop a cross-layer resource allocation and packet scheduling scheme for multiuser video streaming over wireless networks. Assuming that accurate channel feedback is not available at the scheduler, random channel losses combined with complex error concealment at the receiver make it impossible for the scheduler to determine the actual distortion of the sequence at the receiver. Therefore, the objective of the optimization is to minimize the expected distortion of the received sequence, where the expectation is calculated at the scheduler with respect to the packet loss probability in the channel. The expected distortion is used to order the packets in the transmission queue of each user, and then gradients of the expected distortion are used to efficiently allocate resources across users. © 2013 IEEE.

This project deals with the comparison of the VLSI design of the carry look-ahead adder (CLAA) based 32-bit unsigned integer multiplier and the VLSI design of the carry select adder (CSLA) based 32-bit unsigned integer multiplier. Both the VLSI design of multiplier multiplies two 32-bit unsigned integer values and gives a product term of 64-bit values. The CLAA based multiplier uses the delay time of 99ns for performing multiplication operation where as in CSLA based multiplier also uses nearly the same delay time for multiplication operation. But the area needed for CLAA multiplier is reduced to 31% by the CSLA based multiplier to complete the multiplication operation. These multipliers are implemented using Altera Quartus II and timing diagrams are viewed through avan waves. © 2013 IEEE.

Renewable energy provides a prominent result in increasing power demand. Multi-port converter is an appropriate solution for continuous power supply. The Four-port Full bridge converter is presented in this paper that can be applied in wind and solar units. The Maximum power of photovoltaic is obtained from Cuk converter. An efficient wind power is preserved from PFC-SEPIC converter. The ultra capacitor is added to control the power flow. Besides PV/Wind power generation, single stage power conversion taken between inputs to output port. Zero voltage switching and ultra capacitor charging control are the additional factors for improving efficiency and power density of this topology. An effective photovoltaic/wind power generation and high step-up power flow control are analyzed using the results implemented and verified in this paper. © Research India Publications.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) emerges as one of the converging technologies. It is a powerful medium for identification of any object and leads all methods in auto ID umbrella. RFID is now key technology in the field of asset tracking. In India, sandalwood is considered to be an important national asset. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to monitor illegal cutting of sandalwood trees in the forest. In India, it is maintained by forest department. There are many problems in maintaining that since it is a very expensive one. Our forest department and police department face a number of challenges in safeguarding this important national asset. Main objective of this work is to monitor each tree continuously and to control smuggling. Latest RFID sensor network helps us to solve this problem. RFID tags are placed in the tree and using RFID readers it is continuously monitored. If the tree is cut by unauthorised person, sensors will trigger the transceiver to transmit tag ID and alert signal to the control room. For this, ZigBee network and mobile network are used. RFID is a powerful medium for identification of any object and leads all methods in auto ID umbrella. RFID plays a major role in auto ID applications like contactless smart cards used by bus riders, in supermarket, textiles and logistics chain management. In library management also RFID tags are used for books identification. Here, we have proposed a method for arranging the books in the library using an automated trolley (AT) with the help of RFID technology. Each book in the library is given a unique RFID tag with which the books are identified. To guide AT to the target slot in the particular rack RFID tags are pasted in the path.
