We propose a novel technique for extracting a series of displaced subdivision surfaces sharing the same topology and the same displacement map from a given animated mesh. Our motion-based mesh simplification method creates control meshes with a small number of vertices but keeps the motion information. Extracted control meshes are simpler than the original meshes, and so easier to edit and take less storage. Our method uses only one displacement map for all frames, which greatly reduces the amount of data. Source

A wireless mobile ad hoc network has high node mobility and therefore requires dynamic schemes to address the process of routing. Periodic updates of the varying layout of a given wireless mobile ad hoc network may provide a solution. The frequent broadcasting of this routing information to all the participating nodes will incur overhead on rare resources of bandwidth and battery power of network participating nodes. The contribution of this work is the extension of our previous work to decompose a given large scale wireless mobile ad hoc network into various network regions thus limiting the broadcasting of network routing information within a region. Further a novel multi-region routing scheme is introduced for the process of path finding between a sender and receiver. Computed tomography (CT) images have been widely used for liver disease diagnosis. The CT images have been used for the analysis as these images are more clear compared to other imaging techniques. This paper focuses on developing method for classifying liver tumor from CT images using texture analysis and neural network classifier. The Co-occurrence matrices are used to extract feature like contrast, correlation, entropy, homogeneity, energy. Then the probabilistic neural network is trained to classify liver tumors as malignant and benign. The proposed system was evaluated by several liver images. It produces accuracy of 93.75%. This paper proposes MISSA, a novel middleware to facilitate the development and provision of stream-based services in emerging pervasive environments. The stream-based services utilize voluminous and continuously updated data streams as their input. The characteristics of data streams bring new requirements on the development and provision of the services. To satisfy the requirements, a unique service model and a runtime system are designed in MISSA. The key concept of our service model is to separate service logic from handling data streams. This significantly mitigates the burden on service developers by allowing them to only concentrate on the service logic. Job of handling data streams is completely delegated to the runtime. In this paper, we first present the importance of stream-based services and their requirements. Also, we describe a best route finding service as an example to motivate the need for MISSA. Then, we envision overall architecture for provisioning of stream-based services and detail our design of service model and runtime. Lastly, we demonstrate the efficiency of service model and runtime through experiments. © 2010 IEEE. Source

Two-dimensional nanostructures involving continuous mechanical nanopatterning methods, such as dynamic nanoinscribing (DNI) enable continuous and high-speed fabrication of nano-void patterns without the need for intricate masks and complex instruments. Here we demonstrate how two series of DNI processes, performed along orthogonal directions, yield a 2D sinusoidal void pattern. The 2D void pattern, when charged in ionic solution, can generate a sinusoidal electrostatic potential in ionic solution and can confine oppositely charged nanoparticles(NPs) in an aqueous solution. We experimentally demonstrate this application by using colloidal NPs. © 14CBMS. Source
