Bluetooth is a personal wireless communication technology and is being applied in many scenarios. It is an emerging standard for short range, low cost, low power wireless access technology. Current existing MAC (Medium Access Control) scheduling schemes only provide best-effort service for all master slave connections. In computer science, scheduling is the method by which threads, processes or data flows are given access to system resources (e.g. processor time, communications bandwidth). The work presented here in this scheme is aimed at efficient energy consumption by reducing the delay of each packet in case of single user as well as multiple users. The delay reduction is done by using priority scheduler. The scheduler has two types of services called best effort services and real time services. The real time services are considered as high priority applications where as best effort services are considered as low priority application. Hence real time services are served faster and better where as best effort is served after real time services are served. The delay for real time services are much reduced compared to best effort services. The simulation results show that the delay is much reduced for real time applications. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
