Features of structural and phase transformations, and also formation of a set of properties of Cr–Mo–V pipe steels are studied. Heat treatment regimes are developed for high-strength casing pipes for corrosion resistant application. The method of orientation microscopy (EBSD) is used to study the texture of low-carbon, low-alloy pipe steel sheets with a bainitic structure made by controlled thermomechanical processing. The specimens analyzed are inclined or not inclined towards forming separations (secondary cracks) in a fracture during mechanical testing. Formation of separations during failure of steel with a bainitic structure is connected with the presence in the material of regions with uniform orientation (001)<110> extended in the cold rolling direction. Formation of the regions is a consequence of features of γ→α shear transformation that commences at special boundaries between deformed austenite grains. © 2016 Springer Science+Business Media New York Source

Steel 08Kh18N10T deformation resistance under hot upsetting conditions is studied in the Gleeble-3800 research unit. The test material is two batches of cylindrical specimens 8 mm in diameter and 12 mm high, cut from a centrifugally-cast pipe billet in longitudinal and transverse directions. It is shown that with a high strain rate (10 sec-1) in the region of high strains transverse specimens have a higher strengthening factor compared with longitudinal specimens. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York. A study is made of the effect of the degree of ovality of the passes in the finishing stands of an FQM mill on the accuracy and deformation characteristics of the rolled product with the use of a system of 384-mm passes. The transverse distribution of wall-thickness at the outlet of the deformation zone in the fourth and fifth stands is determined for different degrees of ovality of the finishing-stand passes. Relations are obtained to calculate the degree to which the mandrel is enveloped by the metal, the increase in the thickness of the semifinished product, and its spreading for different pass ovalities in the finishing stands of the FQM mill. It is established that it is best to regulate pass ovality in the leader stand in order to significantly improve the accuracy of the rolled pipe’s geometric dimensions. © 2016 Springer Science+Business Media New York Source

This article examines the effectiveness of using lubricating-deoxidizing products of the leading foreign manufacturers - Budenheim (Germany), Timcal (Switzerland), and Sichim-Alfa (Italy) - in the production of hot-rolled seamless tubes in the line of the PQF mill of a TRC 10 3/4″ tube-rolling complex.
