Complexes of general molecular formula [M(AQTC) 2X 2], where M = cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II), AQTC = 2 phenyl quinoxaline thiosemicarbazone, X = Cl, Br, I - and NO 3- have been synthesized. Complexes were characterised by analytical analyses, IR spectra, electronic spectra, molar mass, conductivity measurements.The compound AQTC acts as a neutral, bidentate ligand and bonded to the metal ion through azomethine N and sulphur atom of thiosemicarbazone moiety. The remaining coordinating positions are satisfied by anions such as Cl, Br, I -, and NO 3 -. Electronic spectral and magnetic susceptibility values reveals octahedral geometry for the complexes. The complexes were found to be non electrolytic in nature on the basis of low value of molar conductance. The ligand as well as metal complexes have been screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity.

Neutral bidentate Schiff base ligand 3 4-diethyl isoquinoline semicrabazone [DIES] and its complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes have been prepared. The ligand as well as metal complexes were characterized by analytical and physicochemical methods such as elemental analyses, molar mass, IR, U.V., magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance measurements. On the basis of these studies, it is proposed that DIES acts as neutral bidentate ligand and coordination proposed through azomethine nitrogen and carbonyl oxygen of semicarbazone moiety. On the basis of electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements, it is proposed that complexes have monomeric octahedral geometry. The ligand as well as metal complexes were also screened for their antimicrobial study.

Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with 8,8-dimethyl-2,3,4, 5,7,8-hexahydro diazepino[2,1-b]benzothiazol-10(9H) semicarbazone [DHDBS] have been prepared and their characterization have been done by microanalytical data, IR, UV, molar conductance and magnetic measurements. On the basis of above physicochemical and spectroscopic measurements, it is proposed that the compound DHDBS behaves as a neutral bidentate ligand and coordination proposes through azomethine N and carbonyl oxygen atom of semicarbazone moiety. The remaining positions of metal ions are satisfied by negative ions, such as, Cl -, Br -, I - and NO3 -. Electronic spectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurement proposes octahedral geometry for the complexes. The complexes are also screened for their antimicrobial potential against selected bacteria and fungi.


The present work reports the synthesis of a series of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of neutral bidentate Schiff base prepared by the condensation of 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro indeno[1,2-d]thiazolo[3,2-a][1,3]pyrimidine-11(H)-one with semicarbazide hydrochloride. The ligand as well as metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar mass, magnetic susceptibility, molecular conductivity, IR spectra, electronic spectra. On the basis of above observations, it is proposed that the ligand 2,3,4,5-tetrahydro indeno[1,2-d]thiazol[3,2-a][1,3]pyrimidine-11(H)-semicarbazone behaves as neutral bidentate manner and coordination takes place through azomethine N and carbonyl oxygen of semicarbazone moiety. The remaining positions of the metal ion are satisfied by negative ions such as Cl -, Br -, I - and NO 3 -. The complexes were proposed octahedral geometry.

Complexes of the type [M(DMPS)2×2]. Where M=cobalt(II) nickel(II) and copper(II) DMPS =26 Dimethyl 4 pyrone semicarbazone and X = Cl-, Br, I-, NO 3 - and CIO 4 - have been prepared, the ligand and complex have been characterized by elemental analysis IR spectra, electronic spectra, molar mass, conductance, magnetic susceptibility values. DMPS acts as neutral bidentate ligand and coordinate is proposed through azomethine N and carbonyl oxygen atoms of semicarbazone moiety the remaining position of metal ions are satisfied by negative anions such Cl, Br, I, NO 3 or CIO 4 the complexes were proposed to be monomeric octahedral in geometry.
