The angular velocity of the gyrostabilized platform (GSP) precession motion is described using the second-kind Abel equation. It is shown that this method offers the advantage over the existing approaches that consists in the use of a minimal number of assumptions in constructing the GSP drift model. A method is proposed for adapting weight coefficients of masks in gradient selection of contour features of images against the background of impulse noise, based on the Bayes estimation of the noise position and the subsequent its compensation in mask processing. The results of numerical investigations of the proposed methods are presented, which confirm the improved quality of the gradient contour detection in images distorted by impulse noise. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
