Industrial devices are configured to provide their associated industrial data to client-side user interface applications in a self-describing manner that instructs the interface applications how the data is to be rendered. In response to a request for a data item from a user interface application, the industrial device sends the requested data item together with presentation metadata that identifies a widget or graphical objects to be used by the interface application to render the data item on a user interface. By providing the industrial data in a self-describing manner, additional data or services can be added to the industrial device without requiring a corresponding update to the client-side interface application.

Disclosed examples include power conversion systems and methods to operate an inverter to drive a motor load through an intervening output filter, a transformer and a cable, including a current regulator to compute a command value according to a current reference value and a motor current feedback value, a cross-coupled feedforward component to compensate the command value by an estimated cross-coupled voltage value to compute a control output value, a cross-coupled object component to compute the motor current feedback value according to a voltage value using a plant transfer function representing the output filter, the transformer, the cable and the motor load, and a controller to provide the inverter switching control signals to control the inverter according to the control output value.

A system includes a heat sink, a semiconductor device, a layer of thermal interface material (TIM) disposed between the heat sink and the semiconductor device, and a fastener system that couples the semiconductor device, the layer of TIM, and the heat sink together. The TIM may facilitate dissipation of heat generated by the semiconductor device via the heat sink during operation of the semiconductor device. The fastener system includes a first Belleville-type washer configured to cooperate with the TIM, which flows when heated beyond a threshold temperature, to maintain a substantially constant coupling force between the semiconductor device and the heat sink during operation of the semiconductor device.

An electrical bus assembly includes a frame and a plurality of bus bar carriers connected to the frame. The bus bars are supported by the bus bar carriers in parallel spaced-apart relation. A first retainer cap is secured to a first one of the plurality of bus bar carriers located adjacent a first end of the frame. A second retainer cap is secured to a second one of the plurality of bus bar carriers located adjacent a second end of the frame. The first and second retainer caps limit axial movement of the bus bars relative to the plurality of carriers sufficiently to prevent escape of the bus bars from the carriers. A bus bar connector is also disclosed for supplying power to or from the bus bars. An electrical bus system includes a first and second bus bar assemblies and a jumper connector assembly.

Electrostatic charge grounding is achieved by connecting an outer surface touchscreen conductive coating to a grounded conductor in a graphics terminal using an electrostatic charge routing system that provides a path for electrons that accumulate on the conductive coating to pass through one or more non-conductive elements in the graphics terminal. The grounded conductor can be a bezel made of metal or another conductor, a conductive paint layer applied to a bezel or other graphics terminal element, a metal spline pin or a metal screw. The electron path defined by the electrostatic charge routing system can include conductive and dissipative elements such as metal spline pins, metal screws, conductive epoxy, conducting plastic elements providing a short, closed electron bridge.

For equipment tutorial review audit, a processor synchronizes a plurality of equipment tutorials to a mobile device. Each equipment tutorial corresponds to an equipment instance of a plurality of equipment instances of specific equipment and each equipment instance corresponds to an equipment reference code. The processor receives a first equipment reference code for a first equipment instance at the mobile device. The processor retrieves a first equipment tutorial of the plurality of equipment tutorials that is indexed to the first equipment reference code at the mobile device. The processor displays the first equipment tutorial on the mobile device. In addition, the processor records a review of the first equipment tutorial by an operator to an audit report.

Techniques to facilitate visualization ofan application associated with an industrial automation environment are disclosed. In at least one implementation, a display composer interface is presented that enables a user to design a customized display layout for the application associated with the industrial automation environment. Data display instructions are received comprising a user selection of at least one data item associated with an operation of a machine in the industrial automation environment. Position information that identifies where to display the at least one data item is also received. The data display instructions and the position information are processed to generate the customized display layout for the application. Based on the customized display layout, a graphical user interface is rendered to the application having the at least one data item positioned according to the position information.

For energy operations across domains, a method generates a native node and a foreign node. The method further generates protocol reference data that identifies protocol specific relationships between the native node and the foreign node under an address space. In addition, the method links the native node and the foreign node in a native namespace and a foreign namespace by a translation function that automatically converts information between the foreign data structure and the proxy data structure using protocol specific structure converting functions. The method maps a native method calling of the native node to a foreign method calling of the foreign node using a protocol specific method mapping function.
