A heavy section spheroidal graphite cast irons block was prepared. And the morphology features in spheroidal graphite cast irons castings were analyzed by using optical microscope, scan electronic microscope, energy spectrometer and tensile tester. The mechanical properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron with heavy section were discussed. The results show that the solidification rate at surface is fast, resulted in a gradual increase in number of graphite nodules and an decrease in graphite size under the current experimental conditions, and the graphite was serious distortion in the center section or hot spot. Micro- alloying and cooling systems should be applied at the same time to reduce or inhibit chunky graphite in heavy section spheroidal graphite cast iron castings. The compounds of Mg, Sb, S and RE elements is the main composition of spheroidal graphite core, and their enrichment around spheroidal graphite make each surface or the direction of the growth tends to be spherical. The effect of solidification rate in each position on the tensile strength and yield strength was different, fracture of graphite and the matrix is formed due to the continued expansion of cracks. ©, 2015, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. Ram is one of the key components of the large-scale CNC machine tools. The structure of ram is complex, the requirements of dimensional precision, matrix microstructure and surface quality are higher. The sand core deformation and fracture easily occurred in molding and pouring process. This paper provides the more mature production plan or control methods of molding design, gating system design, chemical composition control of molten iron, as well as the appropriate process parameters. The large-scale HT300 ram casting has been successfully manufactured, and casting quality meets the requirements of machine design. Source

Based on the requirements of ductile iron fixed clamp plate for large plastic injection molding machine, the technical difficulties were analyzed. CAE simulation was adopted to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the design of the pouring system and the layout plan of iron chill. According to the CAE results in the filling process and temperature field, liquid layout in the cooling process, the deflection regions were obtained. Then some technical measures were adopted in the production process such as intensification of nodularizing and inoculation treatment process, application of casting mould with high strength and control over the composition of the iron liquid strictly. The large fixed clamp plate with complex structure and high requirements has been developed successfully. Source

The cores structure and fastening device design method for of large ductile iron plate for large plastic injection molding machine were introduced. The structure of cores and core prints were presented. According to the mechanism of fastening device, the fixing device was designed to locate the cores in order to keep them stable and avoid occurrence of displacement or floating during the casting process, which ensure the high precision of large cavities of the fixed clamp plate. Production in as cast condition for ductile iron clamp plates for large plastic injection molding machine is of great importance because of its energy saving, lower cost and high efficiency. In this paper, based on the analysis of production in as cast condition, the quality requirements of the raw materials were discussed. The controlling of chemical composition for the melting iron liquid and the nodularizing inoculation treatment process during the liquid iron were present. The method for determining the solidification time of the casts based on CAE analysis and actual measurement were given. By such steps, production in as cast condition for ductile iron clamp plates for large plastic injection molding machine were fulfilled successfully. Source
