Typical points are selected on Ganmo Highway, the only bidirectional four-lane highway of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (hereinafter referred to as "Xinjiang Corps"), so as to measure the speeds of vehicles on the overtaking lane and corresponding inside clearances. The relationship between the inside clearances and speeds of different types of vehicles is studied by mathematical statistics so as to establish a model of the relationship between inside clearances and speeds. Based on the collision deformation of different barrier types and the demand for the actual functions of the central strip, how to select the width of the central strip and the barrier type of the arterial highway of Xinjiang Corps is analyzed. According to the results, there is a linear relationship between inside clearances and speeds of vehicles; monolithic concrete barriers require a small width of the central strip and they are cheap on the whole and suitable for the corps area. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In order to establish excavation 3D model simpler, more quickly, more efficient, more accurately, more directly and to realize 3D displaying of the design results, a 3D excavation software for parametric modeling and dynamic displaying is developed. The functions, architecture, key technology, difficulties, countermeasures and realization process of this software are introduced. Meanwhile, application of the software to the excavation of CCTV verifies the feasibility and practicality. The results show that this study has important theoretical significance and application value.

Application of the automatic wind catcher in the immersed tunnel was studied in this work. The results show that: the best design size is suggested as ε=3 for conical flaring based on comparative analysis, and the cost of operation ventilation may be saved by using the automatic wind-catching device in tunnel. Provided that one hundred automatic wind-catching devices are utilized in the tunnel, when the natural wind speed is 6.6 m/s, the energy saving is 26.8%, while when the natural wind speed is 10.8 m/s, the energy saving may be increased to be 40.2%.

The behavior of transverse waves propagating in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in a free space and in an elastic matrix is investigated. The CNTs are modeled as Timoshenko beams of hybrid gradient elasticity theory and the elastic matrix is modeled as a bi-parameter Pasternak foundation. A governing equation with two scale factors is derived for Timoshenko beams where shear deformation and rotary inertia are taken into account. The dispersion relation of flexural waves in CNTs is given and confirmed by molecular dynamics simulations. A comparison of the phase velocity of single-walled CNTs is made when neglecting shear deformation and/or rotary inertia. The wave speed of acoustic branch is especially focused for multi-walled CNTs and the wave speed is dependent on van der Waals interaction. The effects of the surrounding medium and scale parameters on the velocity of bending waves are discussed, in particular for acoustic mode. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A method for identifier-selection in expressway network is proposed based on toll collection accuracy of multi-path. Using basic information of the expressway network, the network model is built. Toll collection accuracy of the model is computed by the following steps: selection for competitive and valid paths, calculation for selection probability, toll calculation and calculation for toll collection accuracy. Through multi-period and multi-candidate strategy, the identifier-selection scheme is adopted to improve the stability and save the running time. In highway accident handling different stages, accident rescue required the different amount resources. This paper divided rescue resources dispatch into two stages, different rescue stations sent the amount of resources required for each stage. Then, to the minimum resources total quantity as the target in a regional road network, this paper designed the integer programming optimal model for resource allocation. The model was used to determine the resources of each station. The case result showed the model was effective to decrease the total amount of road rescue resources, and reduce the waste of rescue resources. © 2012 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

This paper adopts the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to the establishment of a highway induction information validity evaluation system, and by pairwise comparisons between the factors that influence induction information this system provides judgment matrices on different levels. The corresponding normalization vector of judgment matrix's biggest characteristic root be taken into fuzzy evaluation system as those influential factors weight vector. Then, this paper evaluates the static information, dynamic diffusion information, dynamic feedback information and overall induction information of a highway separately. The result indicates that this method have a good effect in evaluating the highway induction information validity. © 2012 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

A method for increasing the height of the post was proposed according to the problem of barrier height reduction resulted from highway pavement overlay, which is simple and can be adapted to different pavement thickness, so that barrier restored to its original height. Through computer simulation of the post height barrier crash performance reliability and a comparative analysis, the results show that the post heightening program can meet the performance requirements of the barrier crashworthiness. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In order to deeply discuss the safety of highway tunnel lining structure under shallow burial, large span, bias and other complex conditions, combined with special geological conditions, such as shallow-buried bias, slop sliding, fracture zone in left line outlet of Wolonggang Tunnel, authors analyzed the safety problem of tunnel structure in detail which probably appeared in construction period. Through analyzing the stability of surrounding rock deformation, the stability of the slope and the tunnel lining stress, the safety of tunnel lining was comprehensively evaluated. The results show that the surrounding rock displacement of Wolonggang Tunnel is smooth and steady. The slope is stable and the tunnel outlet is safe. The evaluated result provides beneficial references for later operation of tunnel.
