UltraPerformance LC® (UPLC®) (Waters Corp., Milford, MA) with electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS-MS) method was used for simultaneous determination of 24 hormone residues in aquatic products. Individual stock solutions of 100 μg/mL for all compounds were prepared in HPLC-grade methanol and kept at -20°C. Each tuning solution was introduced into the electrospray source by direct infusion and the main ions produced in MS and MS-MS were identified in positive and negative ionization modes. The results show that the hormones do not degrade at 10°C in an autosampler for 30 hr. Bisphenol A is found to become a well known target for environmental research because of its potential activity as an endocrine disruptor in animals.
