Oktyabrskoe deposit is developed by Taimyr mine, which is classified as a dangerous and liable to rock bumps. This mine realized the complex approach to guaranteeing of geodynamic safety, including the regional and local levels. The problem of regional geodynamic safety is being solved by means of monitoring and research of seismic processes via dedicated seismic network. The system holds the recording of seismic signals and on-line transmission of information for its further processing. The data, derived from the processing of seismic signals, is used for seismic activity mapping with outlining of potentially dangerous zones. Every day, these maps are analyzed by the specialists from underground area of forecasting and prevention of rock bumps. Such analysis is being held with usage of local methods for instrumental estimation of the rock bump hazard level. This provides the ground for making a decision about the necessity of rock bump preventive measures and appropriate options. Nowadays, two-level rock bump forecast, implemented at Taimyr mine, makes it possible to arrange quite efficient prophylactic measures. This forecast also realizes the timely correcting of made technical solutions, ensuring the high level of industrial safety and productivity of development, during the mining operations under extremely difficult mining and geological conditions.

This paper presents the results of estimation of stressedly-deformed state, seismic activity and stability of mine openings during the cutting and development at «Bolshoy Gorst»pool of Taimyr mine. The necessity of comprehensive monitoring was caused by extremely difficult mining and geological development conditions. This monitoring was aimed at the safety of mining operations. The mine and engineering situation is described in this paper, along with the complications in geomechanical situation, which began to arise during the development of the first chamber. All investigations made it possible to carry out the following activities: -determination of direction of primary stresses; -determination of reasons of frequent seismic events; -forecast of development of geomechanical situation with further mining operations. These activities made it possible to carry out the opportune correction of approved technical solutions, including the following stages: -backfilling of a broken part of chamber without the full haulage of rock mass; -change of staged sequence of development; -exclusion of widening of divided orts of belts before the breaking of chambers. These solutions appeared to be efficient. There were neither accidents nor incidents during the period of belt development. The cutting process substantially stabilized the geomechanical situation: there were no evidences of horizontal stresses during the development of adjacent belts while the assessments indicated the relaxation of stresses.

This article proposes an estimation on the stability of pit edges, with the solution, on terms of limit equilibrium of restraining and shear forces in general statement of problem. This estimation is based on detail research of the following factors: -structural and tectonic composition of rock massif; -physical and mechanical properties of burdens and deads, including the full-scale tests; -hydrogeological conditions of Lomonosov diamond deposit. Development of the deposit has complex hydrogeological conditions. This is explained by the presence of six water-bearing complexes in the cut mine, as well as by their power nature, and by the development of salt waters on the depths of 215-220 m. Deads of the deposit have subhorizontal occurrence. Meanwhile, subhorizontal thin argillite interbeds with poor mechanical properties are spread across the whole width of these deads. These argillite interbeds are, practically, the natural surfaces of weakening. The planned shape of the considered open pit is close to the circle (orthogonal diameters comprise 1110,4 m and 1000,9 m). In this case, stability of edges is higher than stability of the planned rectilinear open pits, at the expense of additional resistance to displacement of the possible sliding wedge, which is created by the forces of horizontal stress. The degree of influence of the forces of horizontal stress depends on the planned edge configuration, geological structure of near-edge massif, and ratio of length of edge and its height. Taking into account the foregoing, there were made the calculations of stability of slopes and estimation of maximal parameters of edges of the considered open pit with its project depth of 340 m. The obtained results make it possible to do the comprehensive introduction of necessary activities for efficient exploitation of the deposit to the project depth with maximally possible parameters of the stable edges of the open pit of Arkhangelskaya pipe.
