This study was to investigate, identify and validate information technology competencies administrative staff in network organizations of Iran using quantitative research method. To study goals of the research, one instrument, and questionnaire were used to measure IT competency. To analyzed results taken from descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, ANOVA and chi-square test and two dimensional tables were applied. The results showed that-out of 545 respondents-73% percent of examinees did not attend in any IT training courses during the past years in workplace. Inferential statistics showed that there was significant differences in task performance and ability across several demographic variables are used in developing national skill standards for administrative jobs. Based on these findings, justify the need for professional development and life long learning for administrative staff who are employed in an ever-changing workplace. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2011. Iran is moving toward globalization to become a developed nation by year 2030. In order to change the economy to the one that is based on knowledge-economy and IT competency, the organization needs to develop the workforce skill and capability. This article analyses the workers' IT competency level in the network organization. The analysis is based on a sample of 365 workers in network organization from three sectors, namely, education, business and professional services; government agencies; and Trading in Tehran, Iran during the years 2007-2008. From the analysis of job descriptions, the survey results showed that organizations need to improve not only the individual worker's IT competency, but also the organizational IT competency as well. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2011.
