The design of unimodular sequences of even length N that possess impulse-like periodic correlation and non-zero complementary correlation coefficients at lags l =-N/2 and l = N/2, is addressed. The parameters that define the sequences are determined by minimising the integrated side lobe using the limited-memory Broyden-FletcherGoldfarb-Shanno optimisation method. It is shown that the objective function and its gradient can be efficiently evaluated using the fast Fourier transform. © 2016 The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
