A comprehensive study was undertaken on cost economics of Tasar private grainages and the impact of socio-economic status of graineurs on knowledge and adoption level of technology in Andhra Pradesh. Economic performance of private graineurs in Adilabad, Warangal and Karimnagar districts revealed that they have fetched Rs. 1.38 net income and Rs. 2.38 gross income per rupee investment on seed production. Socio-economic factors of private graineurs such as education, family size and net income were found to have significant positive association with knowledge and adoption level of grainage technology. Variables viz., age and caste were found to be non-significant. Socio-economic factors contributed 19.48 to 23.83% of the variation in knowledge and adoption index of graineurs. The private graineurs with more than 20,000 dil production were found better adopters of technology than those with less than 10,000 dfl production.
