A new polymeric complex of Cd(II) with 1,1-dicyanoethylene- 2,2-dithiolate [ i-MNT2− = {S2C:C(CN)2}2− ] as a bridging ligand has been synthesized and characterized on the basis of spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the Cadmium (II) complex is six coordinated 1D polymeric in nature. Biological screening effects in vitro of the synthesized polymeric complex has been tested against five fungi Synchitrium endobioticum, Pyricularia oryzae, Helminthosporium oryzae, Candida albicans(ATCC10231), Trichophyton mentagrophytes by the disc diffusion method. In vitro antifungal screening indicates that the complex exhibits fungistatic and fungicidal antifungal activity whereas K2i-MNT.H2O became silent on Synchitrium endobioticum, Pyricularia oryzae, Helminthosporium oryzae, Candida albicans (ATCC10231), Trichophyton mentagrophytes. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Mixed ligand complexes of nickel(II) with 1,8-diaminonaphthalene (dan) and 1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolate (i-MNT2-) of the composition, Ni(dan)X(i-MNT)yH2O [ x = 1, y = 2; x = 2, 3, y = 0] and Ni(dan)(i-MNT)L2.zH2O [ L = γ-picoline (γ-pic), α-picoline (β-pic), z = 0; L = β-picoline (γ-pic), z = 2] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurement, TGA, infrared, fluorescence and UV-visible spectral studies. The antifungal property of these complexes have also been studied using different fungi. IR spectral study suggest bidentate chelating behaviour of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and 1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolate ion. The electronic spectral study suggests distorted octahedral stereochemistry around nickel(II) ion in these complexes.

In this paper, an attempt is made to study the influence of external light waves on the thermoelectric power under strong magnetic field (TPSM) in ultrathin films (UFs), quantum wires (QWs) and quantum dots (QDs) of optoelectronic materials whose unperturbed dispersion relation of the conduction electrons are defined by three and two band models of Kane together with parabolic energy bands on the basis of newly formulated electron dispersion laws in each case. We have plotted the TPSM as functions of film thickness, electron concentration, light intensity and wavelength for UFs, QWs and QDs of InSb, GaAs, Hg1-xCdxTe and In1-xGaxAs yP1-y respectively. It appears from the figures that for UFs, the TPSM increases with increasing thickness in quantum steps, decreases with increasing electron degeneracy exhibiting entirely different types of oscillations and changes with both light intensity and wavelength and these two latter types of plots are the direct signature of light waves on opto-TPSM. For QWs, the opto-TPSM exhibits rectangular oscillations with increasing thickness and shows enhanced spiky oscillations with electron concentration per unit length. For QDs, the opto-TPSM increases with increasing film thickness exhibiting trapezoidal variations which occurs during quantum jumps and the length and breadth of the trapezoids are totally dependent on energy band constants. Under the condition of non-degeneracy, the results of opto-TPSM gets simplified into the well-known form of classical TPSM equation which the function of three constants only and being invariant of the signature of band structure. Fuzzy logic and fuzzy minimal structure oscillation aims towards providing support for different application based solution of various fields of data mining and decision making. The aim of this paper is to propose an algorithm to implement the mathematical concept of Fuzzy minimal structure Oscillation. Human Face recognition is selected as the domain for realization of the mentioned concept because very few refer it in the exiting literatures. This is a new concept which has been applied on some set of images. With the help of Fuzzy minimal structure Oscillation an unknown face image can be distinguished from a set of known face images. In this paper proposed new algorithm for face recognition executed and tested using MATLAB 7.9 software. Experiments are performed to test the proposed algorithm on Face fix Database and ORL database. Accuracy of the results describes the application of Fuzzy Minimal Structure Oscillation in the field of face recognition. © 2015 IEEE.

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the cadmium(II) complex is five coordinate in a 1-D polymer. The antifungal activity of the complex of Cd(II) is significant compared to K2iMNT on S. endobioticum, P. oryzae, H. oryzae, and T. mentagrophytes and proved to be crucial for the growth-inhibitor effect. Biological screening effects in vitro of the synthesized complex has been tested against five fungi Synchytrium endobioticum, Pyricularia oryzae, Helminthosporium oryzae, Candida albicans (ATCC10231), and Trichophyton mentagrophytes by the disk diffusion method. A comparative study of inhibition zone values of K2i-MNT·H2O and {[Cd(tn)(iMNT)(4-MePy)]·4H2O}n (1) indicates that the complex exhibits antifungal activity, whereas K2i-MNT·H2O became silent on S. endobioticum, P. oryzae, H. oryzae, C. albicans (ATCC10231), and T. mentagrophytes. © 2015 Taylor & Francis.

A formalism is presented for the computation of entropy of mixing of the structurally inhomogeneous liquid alloys having intermediate range ordering in real space, which is prominently manifested by first sharp diffraction peak i.e. prepeak in their structural data at and around the stoichiometric compositions. These are usually classified as liquid alloys having chemical short range ordering. In this paper, the present method of computation of entropies is applied to Li–Pb and Na–Pb alloys based on a partial charge transferred hard-sphere model. The entropies of mixing are computed and compared with the experimental data. The theoretical outcomes are in a very good agreement with experimental results. © 2014, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science.

A mixed-ligand polymeric metal complex of Cd(II) has been prepared by reactions of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O with 1,3-diaminopropane (tn) and potassium salt of 1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolate and characterized on the basis of spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the Cd(II) complex crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21n with distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The Cd(II) complex was screened in vitro against fungal pathogens such as Synchytrium endobioticum, Pyricularia oryzae, Helminthosporium oryzae, Candida albicans (ATCC10231), and Trichophyton mentagrophytes by the disk diffusion method. The biological testing data of the primary ligand K2i-MNT·H2O and [Cd(tn)(i-MNT)] n indicate that the complex exhibits fungistatic antifungal activity, whereas K2i-MNT·H2O has no activity. The fungicidal properties of [Cd(tn)(i-MNT)] n showed that the cadmium complex was more bioactive than the parent ligand. © 2015 © 2015 Taylor & Francis.

A new mixed ligand complex of Zn(II) with 1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolate [i-MNT2- = {S2C:C(CN)2}2-] and 1,3-diaminopropane as ligands has been synthesized and characterized on the basis of spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Spectroscopic studies and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveal that the zinc(II) complex is tetrahedral and adopts a 1,3-diaminopropane-assisted linear polymeric assembly. The molar conductance data of the complex in DMF solution show non-electrolytic nature. Biological screening effects of the complex in vitro have been tested against five fungi Synchitrium endobioticum, Pyricularia oryzae, Helminthosporium oryzae, Candida albicans (ATCC10231), and Trichophyton mentagrophytes by the disk diffusion method. A comparative study of inhibition zone values of the primary ligand K2i-MNT·H2O and its synthesized complex indicates that the complex exhibits a fungistatic antifungal activity whereas K2i-MNT·H2O does not affect P. oryzae. © 2014 © 2014 Taylor & Francis.
