Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for hardware recovery are disclosed. In some examples, a system can detect a hardware error and identify a system component associated with the hardware error. The system can then generate a request configured to trigger an operating system of the system to place the system in a particular operating state. The particular operating state can be determined based on a component type of the system component. The particular operating state can be a first sleep state when the component type is a peripheral component or a second sleep state when the component type is a processor, a memory, or a power supply. The second sleep state can result in a lower power resource consumption than the first sleep state. The system can generate an indication that the system component can be replaced without restarting the operating system.

An example method to decode an error-correcting code includes receiving a tuple including a seed and a coded packet over a communication channel, and based on the seed, reconstructing a set of pseudorandom coefficients used by an encoder to create the coded packet. The method also includes entering the set of pseudorandom coefficients and the coded packet in a decoding matrix and reducing the decoding matrix to a row echelon form. After reducing the decoding matrix to a row echelon form, the method further includes determining if the decoding matrix is decodable up to a number of rows, reducing the decoding matrix up to the number of rows by backward substitution so a part of the first matrix becomes an identity matrix and a corresponding part of the second matrix comprise source packets, and extracting the source packets from the padded packets.

An apparatus may include a chassis that can receive a sled and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism can mechanically lock the sled to the chassis to prevent a sudden power loss that can be caused from an unexpected removal of the sled from the chassis. To avoid a sudden power loss, a voltage-sensing electrical switch lock can be implemented to the chassis to mechanically lock the sled to the chassis until the sled is ready to be removed. The sled may include one or more computing devices that need to be inactive before removing the sled. The apparatus includes a controller that may detect whether at least one of computing devices in the sled are in an active state or in an inactive state. Based on the determination of the state of the computing devices in the sled, the controller may activate the locking mechanism or de-active locking mechanism.

Latch mechanism having a latch slide having a receiving portion and configured to couple a component with a server chassis. A latch ramp disposed on the latch slide at a first end of the receiving portion, a release ramp disposed on the latch slide at a second end of the receiving portion, and a biasing element biasing the latch slide in a latched position. The latch ramp configured to draw the pin into the receiving portion and the release ramp configured to draw the pin away from the receiving portion. When the latch slide transitions to the latched position, the pin is received in the receiving portion and engages the latch ramp, thereby sliding the latch slide and compressing the biasing element. When the latch slide transitions to the unlatched position, the biasing member is compressed causing the pin to engage the release ramp and translate the component.

A server rack can include a plurality of server chassis. The server chassis can form a opening configured to receive a removable fan through the opening. The removable fan can including a plurality of shutters, the plurality of shutters can be automatically transitionable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. In the open configuration the fan can draw in or push out air to cool the components located within the server chassis. In the closed configuration the shutters can prevent air from entering or exiting the server chassis. A flap can be coupled to the server chassis and automatically transitionable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. In the open configuration the fan is inserted into the server chassis and the flaps are opened into the server chassis. In the closed configuration the fan is removed from the server chassis and the flaps can prevent air from entering or exiting the server chassis.

Disclosed are a system, method, and computer-readable medium for optimizing a fan control system inside a rack system. In at least one example embodiment, the system can include a rack server with a plurality of chassis each having at least one node, each of the nodes including at least one adjustable air vent and configured for adjusting the at least one adjustable air vent based on an air flow requirement of the node. The system can further include a plurality of fans, where the plurality of fans are configured to operate based on a control signal. The system also can comprise a fan control logic board, wherein the fan control logic board is configured to receive from each node in the plurality of chassis the air flow requirements and based on the plurality of air flow requirements generate and transmit the control signal to the plurality of fans.

A method for adhering a film to a touch pad includes adhering a fixing bracket to a back surface of a touch pad, and aligning a plurality of screw holes of the fixing bracket with a plurality of the screw holes of a front cover of a system body, respectively, and connecting the fixing bracket and the front cover of the system body using screws or bolts that engage the screw holes. A positioning wall of a positioning frame is inserted into a gap between the touch pad and the front cover of the system body from a front surface of the touch pad. A film is aligned with an opening of the positioning frame, and the film is adhered to the front surface of the touch pad. The positioning frame is removed from the front surface of the touch pad.
