Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of prehypertensive losartan and amlodipine administration on left ventricular (LV) remodeling and function in spontaneously hypertensive rats-stroke prone (SHRSP). Methods: Spontaneously hypertensive rats-stroke prone were prehypertensively administered losartan, amlodipine, or vehicle. Wistar-Kyoto ratswere used as a control. Blood pressure of the ratswas determined by tail-cuffmethod, and LV structure and function were measured by echocardiography and LV cannulation. Collagen volume fraction was analyzed by picrosirius red staining. Protein expressions of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and angiotensin II type 1 (AT1R) and type 2 (AT2R) receptors were determined by use of the Western blotting method. Results: Although both drugs downregulated BNP protein expression, the LV remodeling and function were more improved with losartan than with amlodipine treatment. Losartan upregulated AT1R and downregulated AT2R protein expression. Conclusions: Both drugs inhibited LV remodeling and improved LV function in prehypertensively treated SHRSP. Losartan provided better continued heart protection, potentially due to its persistent inhibition of AT1R and activation of AT2R in the myocardium.

Six pieces of concrete-filled cold-formed square steel tube beans subjected to law-cycle revelled loading was tested, and nonlinear finiete element anaysis was also conducted to explore the effects of span to height ratios and with to thiekness ratbs of cross-sectbn on the hysteretic behavior ductility and ability of energy disspation Sane important concbsions can be drawn from the experiments and the nonlinear analyst and listed as follows (1) The con crete-filled cold-fomed square steel tube beams exhbit stable hysteresis behavbr up to local buckling and then shaw considerable good ductility and good ability of energy disspatbn The piich-crinkle phenomena do not occur in the hysteresis loops of load-displaccment (2) The hysteresis behavior and ductility of concrete-filled cold-fomed square steel tube beans depend on fie span to height ratios and with to thickness ratios (3) The proposed nonlhear FE model could accurately predict the overall seismic behavior and the inelastic perfoimance of the concrete-filled cold-fomed square steel tube beams The hysteresis loops from nonlinear FE models under law-cycle reversed bading agree well with those from the law-cyclr reversed loading tests The proposed nonlinear FE model could also be used to conduct the nonlinear parameter analysis of the cold-formed canposite beams.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disease characterized by persistent hunger and hyperphagia. The lack of the Snord116 small nucleolar RNA cluster has been identified as the major contributor to PWS symptoms. The Snord116 deletion (Snord116del) mouse model manifested a subset of PWS symptoms including hyperphagia and hyperghrelinemia. In this study, male Snord116del mice were characterized and tested for their acute and chronic responses to anorexic substances related to the ghrelin pathway. In comparison with their wild-type littermates, the food intake rate of Snord116del mice was 14% higher when fed ad libitum, and 32% to 49% higher within 12 hours after fasting. Fasted Snord116del mice were less sensitive to the acute anorexic effect of competitive antagonist [D-Lys3]-GHRP6, YIL-781, and reverse agonist [D-Arg 1,D-Phe5,D-Trp7,9,Leu11]-substance P (SPA) of ghrelin receptor GHS-R. All 3 GHS-R inhibitors failed to inhibit chronic food intake of either Snord116del or wild-type mice due to rapid adaptation. Although fasted Snord116del mice had normal sensitivity to the acute anorexic effect of glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist exenatide, those fed ad libitum required a higher dose and more frequent delivery to achieve ∼15% suppression of long-term food intake in comparison with wild-type mice. Ghrelin, however, is unlikely to be essential for the anorexic effect of exenatide in fed mice, as shown by the fact that exenatide did not reduce ghrelin levels in fed mice and food intake of ghrelin-/- mice fed ad libitum could be suppressed by exenatide. In conclusion, this study suggests that GHS-R may not be an effective therapeutic target, and in contrast, exenatide may produce anorexic effect in PWS individuals. For three-dimensional reconstruction system, point cloud quality is very important. This paper evaluates the quality of point cloud by two aspects of the accuracy of the single point cloud and the matching effect of point cloud. First to calculate the spatial point accuracy by comparing reconstructed point cloud and 3D coordinates calculated by the photograph of the parameters and image coordinates of calibration board marks. Then reconstruct the calibration board to carry out error analysis of flatness. A professional inspection software was used to match point cloud and generate error and accuracy report. Repeated experiments show that point cloud produced by PHOTOSCANSHOP structured light system has a smaller error and registration can achieve better accuracy.

BACKGROUND: The success probability of young donors for pancreatic or islet transplantation is great due to easy vascular anastomosis. However, the anatomical basis of young donors for pancreatic segmental transplantation are insufficient. OBJECTIVE: To observe the microstructure, positive expression areas of pancreatic islet B cell glucagons and insulin, and immune positive staining area of pancreatic islet B cells in the pancreatic tails of young people, and to explore the pancreatic vascular anatomy of young cadavers. METHODS: Totally 12 cases of young cadavers were randomly selected. Their pancreatic tails sections were treated by hematoxylin-eosin staining and observed under an optic microscope. The number and area of pancreatic islets were measured with micrometer gauge. And the immunohistochemical staining was done with pancreatic glucagons antiserum and insulin antiserum. Pancreatic tails of another 3 young cadavers were stained with uranium and lead. The pancreatic islet B cells, the morphology, the quantity and the secreting granules and the vascular situation of the young donors were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In the tissues of the young donors, the secreting granules in pancreatic islet B cells were abundant, organelles such as the endoplasmic reticula, the Golgi complex and the mitochondria were mature and advanced, the insulin islets were widely distributed, and the immune staining positive expression area of the insulin B cells was large. There were many and dense insulin B cells distributed at the pancreatic tails of the young donors, and there were many secreting granules in the insulin islets B cells. The blood vessels were suitable for end-to-side anastomosis. Since the secreting activities of pancreatic cells of the young donors were vigorous and the blood vessels were suitable for end-to-side anastomosis, the young donors are suitable for pancreatic segmental insulin islets transplantation.

Objective: To investigate the effect of recombinant snake venom cystatin (sv-cystatin) on vasculogenic mimicry (VM) formation of mouse melanoma in vitro and in vivo and the mechanisms underlying this effect. Methods: The effect of recombinant sv-cystatin (10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/L) on VM of mouse melanoma cell B16F10 in vitro was observed by tube-like structure formation. Experimental lung metastasis assay was used to analyze the effect of sv-cystatin (three intravenous injections of 25 or 50 mg/kg) on VM in surface metastatic lesions by CD34 and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) double staining. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expressions in B16F10 cells were assessed by immunocytochemistry in vitro and immunohistochemistry in vivo, respectively. Results: The number of VM and the expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were decreased significantly in dose-dependent manner after treatment with an increased dose of recombinant sv-cystatin compared to those in control group (P<0.05). In vivo, recombinant sv-cystatin administration significantly suppressed lung tumor colonies, VM formation as well as MMP-2 and MMP-9 expressions in C57BL/6 mice (P<0.05). Conclusion: Recombinant sv-cystatin can inhibit VM formation of B16F10 cells via down-regulating the expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9.

OBJECTIVE: To validate the extent of lymphadenectomy on the survival of the patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: A total of 97 patients who underwent complete surgical resection for stage I NSCLC were reviewed retrospectively. The effects of systemic mediastinal lymphadenectomy(SML) and LS on survival of patients were compared. Kaplan-Meier curve and Log-rank check were used to analyze the survival rate, and the Cox multivariate analysis was used to analyze the survival-related factors. RESULTS: The 5-year survival rate for patients with systematic mediastinal lymphadenectomy (n=28) was 84.36% while patients with mediastinal lymph node sampling (n=69) was 68. 54% (P=0.025). The Cox multivariate analysis showed that SML significantly affected the overall survival. CONCLUSION: SML plus pulmonary lobectormy are important in patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer.
