Archidendron jiringa (Jack) Nielsen is a leguminous tree plant belonging to the family of Fabaceae. A. jiringa has been commonly used in traditional medicine for a range of ailments and is consumed as raw vegetable in Malaysia. In order to provide comprehensive overview of this plant, this review will summarize the current state of knowledge that is available on the botany, phytochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology of A. jiringa. Moreover, this review will provide a basis platform for future research and commercial exploitations of the plant. © IDOSI Publications, 2013.

9th European Conference on eLearning 2010, ECEL 2010 | Year: 2010

ELearning as the use of new multimedia technologies and the Internet is widely used to improve the quality of learning by facilitating access to resources and services as well as remote exchanges and collaboration. ELearning makes it possible to adapt education to individuals' needs, including disabled learners. Development of new learning styles markedly supports the development of the knowledge and information society and the abilities to search and process information, as well as transformation of this information into knowledge. ELearning also poses the advantage of high-quality feedback as part of learning process, including lifelong learning. The main aim of the research project Education model of eLearning for lifelong learning in selected branches of environment (E-klima) is to create eLearning courses with a thematic focus on the climate and its change consisting of up-to-date and accurate information from the field of climate change and environment. The main objective of the courses is to provide educational materials to various groups of users, focusing on natural and social sciences related to the climate, climate change and other Earth sciences. It was needed to make a methodology for the creation of eLearning courses and its concrete application to the E-klima project. The general part contained a description of eLearning as one of teaching forms, identification of its pros and cons and a comparison with other teaching forms - full-time and combined education. The thematic content of the courses reflects the expertise levels of the target group users (school, departmental, public). The course content encompasses two basic views on climate change, natural-science related (physical and geographic aspects), and social-science related (economic, legal and political aspects). The courses include not only traditional forms of study materials (texts, images, diagrams, tables) but also new, modern forms of presentation of information (digital maps, satellite images, digital data bases, Internet sources).

The article deals with issues of taxation of sportsmen in the Czech Republic. Categories of sportsmen are defined in the theoretical introduction, divided into amateurs, semi-professionals and professionals. These categories are then linked to specific sections of Act on Income Taxes, which are applicable to the taxation of sports activity. The theoretical part is followed with quantification of income tax, social security and health insurance, using a model example with various levels of taxable incomes. All the calculations apply both to the situation where the sportsman assumes the position of an employee, i.e. he has an employment contract, and where he is a self-employed person. Tax incidence on various groups of people involved as well as effects on the public budget are measured within the defined categories. In the context of the public budget we work with the concept of tax evasion which arises from the utilization of one or the other form of relationship between the sports club and the sportsman. The model example is followed with concrete measurements of tax evasion in football in the Czech Republic. We work with specific publicly available data concerning taxable incomes of professional football players in the top Czech football competition - Gambrinus liga. In conclusion, the interdependence of defined quantities is measured using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. © 2014, Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry Brno. The article deals with theoretical and practical aspects of introducing environmental road tax for motor vehicles registered in the Czech Republic. The article analyses requirements to be met by this type of tax and reviews its functions. Further it analyses practical aspects in the sense of existence of data that is needed for accomplishing the task to find an ideal form of environmental tax. Based on these foundations, the authors identified a suitable model of taxation of motor vehicles registered in 2000 and after. Another aim was finding proper variables as regards the need of calculation of theoretical emission data in motor vehicles registered in the Czech Republic before 2000. The proposed model is expected to use emission limits as declared in technical documentation of motor vehicles registered after 2000 and theoretical limits calculated by means of variables of engine capacity and time in older motor vehicles despite the fact that these variables provide explanation for the analysed emission effect just in case of 58% diesel engines, more precisely in case of 82% petrol engines.

The possibilities of using GIS in the planning process are discussed in this paper. A new approach to the identification of environmental conflicts is introduced, in the domain of legal demands for the creation of regional planning records and documentation. Conflicts caused by hydrological events have been chosen as a model situation from a wide range of such spatial conflicts. © INSTITUTE OF GEONICS ASCR, v.v.i. 2010.

As the most devastating viral disease of rice in South and Southeast Asia, rice tungro disease remains one of the significant fears to sustainable annual rice productions in the world. Due to the increasing world population and subsequent increase in demand for food, identifying the causal agents and symptoms of disease and the methods of disease management are key to understanding how to reduce the economic damage caused by rice pathogens. In this review, we described the current state of knowledge of rice tungro disease caused by two morphologically and genomically dissimilar viruses: Rice tungro bacilliform virus and Rice tungro spherical virus. This includes genome structure, transmission, symptoms, diagnostic methods and biological control of the disease. © IDOSI Publications, 2014.

The article deals with the issue of identification of the main factors influencing potential study applicants' decision-making when choosing a university, regarding information sources necessary for the decision. The article particularly presents facts describing the contemporary situation in the tertiary education area, its latest development and the demographic development. The measurement itself is based on a primary research in the form of a questionnaire survey at the Gaudeamus trade fair in Brno and at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The acquired data are evaluated by means of contingency tables and charts. The mutual dependence between examined characteristics is investigated within statistic research by means of chi-square test of independence, chi-square test of goodness of fit and factor analysis using dendrogram.
