Methods and systems are provided for time altering one or more discrete digital audio/video program segments, each program segment having distinct In time and Out time code points. Data from the digital program segments are received from a data source and decoded. The decoded data are modulated as a serial data stream. The modulated decoded data are provided to a time altering processor to remove or duplicate frame positions to time alter the frame sequence. The resulting time altered serial data stream is demodulated to provide buffered program segment data. The buffered and time altered program segments are encoded and provided in a desired file or streaming format. Audio synchronization with the video is maintained by duplication or removal of audio samples corresponding to the duplicated or removed video frames.

A circuit and method for detecting a vertical cut in a sequence of digital video images. Each pixel of a video frame is filtered then compared to a filter threshold. If the threshold is met, a current pixel bit is set as active. A delayed pixel bit is generated from the current pixel bit, and a changed pixel bit is generated if either but not both of the current pixel bit and the delayed pixel bit is active. Active pixels are counted. The count of active pixels in the current image and the count of active pixels in the delayed image are used to weight the active pixel count of the changed image. The counts are used to determine a change value for the current image. The change value may be a large positive value, a large negative value, or neither. A predefined pattern of the change values over a sequence of frames indicates a vertical cut in the sequence.

Systems and methods for a vertical hydroponic garden described herein attempt to provide a solution to the geometry and spacing control between individual growing plants. The components can be combined for a complete standalone system or as a kit for assembly. An exemplary hydroponic garden system comprises a container configured to hold water; a support structure extending upward from the container; a plurality of housing components, each housing component configured to be supported by the support structure, each housing component having a plurality of apertures, wherein each aperture is configured to support a vessel configured for holding a plant; a pipe extending upward from the container through the housing components; and a pump configured to pump water from the container through the pipe to an upper most housing component, whereby water drips from the upper most housing component to the housing component below.

A subscriber characterization system with filters in which the subscribers selections are monitored, including monitoring of the time duration programming is watched, the volume at which the programming is listened to, and any available information regarding the type of programming, including category and sub-category of the programming. The raw subscriber selection data is then processed to eliminate data associated with irrelevant activities such as channel surfing, channel jumping, or extended periods of inactivity. The actual subscriber selection data is used to form program characteristics vectors. The programming characteristics vectors can be used in combination with the actual subscriber selection data to form a subscriber profile. Heuristic rules indicating the relationships between programming choices and demographics can be applied to generate additional probabilistic subscriber profiles regarding demographics and programming and product interest.

Method and system for creating one or more advertising avail sections (subavails) and thereupon aggregating the subavails to form one or more groups of subavails. The advertisement opportunities (avails) may be divided into sections (subavails) with each section being directed at a particular target audience (group). The subavails are then aggregated into one or more groups of subavails so that the groups of subavails can be sold to the advertisers. The grouping of subavails is generally based on a correlation wherein the subavails are characterized based on one or more characteristics. The groups of subavails are formed based on one or more shared characteristics. The advertiser has an option to buy a group of subavails (rather than an avail in prior art), whereby the advertiser may reach a targeted group of an audience.
