This research was studied between the years 1994 and 2012 to determine suitable pistachio rootstocks and planting intervals for irrigated conditions in the GAP region in Turkey. Seedlings of Pistacia vera, P. khinjuk, P. atlantica, and P. terebinthus were used as rootstocks in the project. An experimental orchard was established with 7x2, 7x4 and 7x6 m intervals and designed with three replications containing five trees. 'Siirt' cultivar and 'Atli' pollinator were grafted on the rootstocks two years after planting. The growing of rootstocks' canopy volume, stem diameters, canopy width, budding success, and bearing status of rootstocks for 'Siirt' cultivar were evaluated. The highest success for grafting was obtained on P. vera while the lowest was taken by P. atlantica. In view of stem and canopy developments, the best growth was obtained on P. atlantica and the weakest growth was obtained on P. terebinthus. The trees grafted on P. terebinthus formed floral buds and started bearing earlier than the others.
