Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research is a medical and research institution located in Chandigarh, India. It has educational, medical research and training facilities for its students. The founders of the institute are Tulsi Das, Santokh Singh Anand, P N Chuttani, B N Aikat, Sant Ram Dhall and Bala Krishna. PGIMER was conceived and planned in 1960 to provide physical and intellectual milieu for young scientists working in multiple disciplines of medicine, to advance the frontiers of knowledge to render humane service to sick and suffering and to train medical and paramedical manpower, in Chandigarh. The Institute was established in 1962 under the erstwhile state of Punjab. It was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament w.e.f. 1 April 1967. Wikipedia.

Most natural surfaces and surfaces of engineering interest, e.g., polished or sandblasted surfaces, are self-affine fractal over a wide range of length scales, with the fractal dimension Df = 2.15\pm 0.15± 0.15. We give several examples illustrating this and a simple argument, based on surface fragility, for why the fractal dimension usually is <2.3. A kinetic model of sandblasting is presented, which gives surface topographies and surface roughness power spectra in good agreement with experiments. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York. A thermowell is provided for positioning on a pipeline or tank to measure the temperature. The thermowell comprises a head for receiving a probe, and the well has a closed end. An elongated hollow tubular connects the head and the well. The tubular includes one or more tubular parts, each of a selected axial length, joined by a friction welding to one of the more of the head, the well or another of the tubular parts.

The cone plug valve includes a valve body, a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a valve stem, and a cone supported on the valve stem. The metal cone is rotatably separate from the valve stem but moves axially in response to axially movement of the valve stem. A seat is fixably positioned within the valve body for sealing engagement with the cone, which has a sealing surface extending outward from the cone shaped exterior surface for sealing with the seat to close off flow through the valve body.
