Conventional analysis of anchored sheet piles uses principle of rigid body mechanics to estimate forces in the tied rod, and finally determines the moments and shears along its depth. This technique is certainly a convenient tool but ignores the stiffness of the sheet pile itself, which is assumed to be infinitely rigid. Stiffness of the sheet pile significantly influences overall behavior of the system. Present paper presents an analytical method that takes into cognizance flexural stiffness of the wall including interaction of the soil and sheet pile embedded in ground to arrive at a more realistic estimate of the moments and shears in the pile. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
