The Cr-V ledeburitic steel Vanadis 6 was vacuum austenitised, nitrogen gas quenched and double tempered under various combinations of heat treatment regimes. For selected samples, a subzero period was inserted between quenching and tempering. The results obtained infer that: (1) the as quenched microstructure consisted of martensite, retained austenite and undissolved carbides; (2) the subzero processing reduced the amount of the retained austenite and increased the tetragonality of the martensitic lattice; (3) the as quenched hardness of the steel was higher by 2-3 HRC due to subzero processing; (4) the as tempered hardness increased with increasing austenitising temperature, but it decreased slightly during the subzero period; (5) no negative impact of subzero processing on toughness was recorded; (6) the wear resistance increased with subzero period when a 100Cr6 steel was used as a counterpart. © 2013 IHTSE Partnership.

Present environment full of turbulent changes in all fields of social life influenced by globalisation and world economic crisis, creates completely new conditions for activities of industrial enterprises. In order to make enterprises capable to secure their long-term sustainable development, it is necessary to optimize their efficiency significantly. Key factor of enterprise efficiency optimisation in stated setting is the integration of all enterprise systems, processes and sources. To secure the practical application of differently constructed models of industrial enterprise performance management, it is necessary to pay systematic attention to corporate culture. This article deals with identification and description of the key stages within the process of corporate culture optimisation in industrial enterprises.

The paper deals with the issues of Slovak industrial enterprises in the field of Logistics and Manufacturing. The authors describe theoretical possibilities of improving manufacturing systems through the use of Kaizen, Simulation and Optimization. Authors also present results of the survey, which was conducted in Slovak industrial enterprises. The last part of the paper shows practical examples of improving manufacturing systems using different methods. The main aim of the paper is to summarise theoretical knowledge for the improvement of manufacturing systems through Kaizen and Optimisation by Simulation, compare results of the survey in Slovak industrial enterprises and finally suggest new approaches for industrial enterprises to improve their manufacturing systems. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Today, needs of an ergonomics rationalization and optimization of work conditions starting to be the top theme not only in Slovak republic but also in the whole central Europe. It is widely accepted that ergonomics helps to minimize the influence of risk factors which affect the creation of injuries and damage to health. Ergonomics also help to reach the higher effectiveness of human work and also the productivity of work. For the economic and all - society development is necessary step by step passing to the orientation of employees' requirements analysis, because the employees are active in production and also in associated logistic processes. This orientation should finally lead to the direct improvement of work performance as well as to the development of employees' intellectual capital . This article is focused on introducing a database - analytical application Ergo&Log, which was created as a part of first author dissertation thesis outputs. Presented application is oriented to the identification and evaluation of employee harm and problems with musculoskeletal system. This application allows creation of databases, which are usable into the company as well as in national level and at the same time allows the realization of orientation ergonomic analysis. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The contribution deals with the possibilities of the use of existing commercially available vectorization programs for recognition drawing entities in raster graphics format obtained by scanning of the engineering drawing. Drawing entities as a line (solid, dashed, dot-dashed etc.), dimension, hatch, various symbols, text, etc., have specific semantic for the designer defined by standards. Expert knows to interpret this graphic language and he knows to create a mental model of the real object. To be able interpret digital content of the engineering drawing obtained by scanning by the form of 3D computer model often requires to perform many intelligent operations. In the first step it is necessary to obtain such vector representation of the scanned drawing to be able to identify the original drawing entities. Suitability of using the contemporary commercial vectorizing programs for engineering drawings was verified on the test sample of the drawing entities and the results are published in the paper. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
