The building of man-made industrial complexes in natural landscapes made it necessary to study the changes in the properties of soils which have lost their natural state. The most productive way to monitor these changes is to study natural-technogenic soil catenas. This article reflects the results of regional studies made by the authors. It provides the characteristics of a representative catena formed under the conditions of technogenesis. The morphological, physicomechanical, and chemical properties of technogenic surface formations created due to underground coal mining, natural soils, and man-made chemozems are assessed. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Results of experimental studies are presented for the dependence of surface roughness for such turned polymer materials as caprolon and textolite on cutting regime parameters taking account of billet pretreatment by mechanical surface layer deformation. The conditions of producing tungsten alloys with chromium and molybdenum by thermal reduction methods of a scheelite concentrate with the additions of oxides of alloying elements are studied. The application of W-Cr and W-Cr-Mo alloys for electrospark alloying of the surface of machine parts increases the wear resistance of the parts 1.5-2 times. © 2014 © 2014 Taylor & Francis.

Results are provided for experimental study of the deformation and failure mechanism for polymer materials with specimen uniaxial tension. An acoustic emission method is used for quantitative evaluation of the test process. Results are presented for experimental verification of engineering system instability development during turning polymer material workpieces. The nature of the correlation between cutting regime, form of previous workpiece preparation, and turned machined surface roughness, is established. Existence is confirmed by experiment of those caprolon turning regimes whose implementation leads to transfer of an engineering system lathe-fixture-tool-workpiece (LFTW) into an unstable condition, indicated by a sharp reduction in machined surface quality. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Functions of a new type are proposed which can be used as basis functions in the description of states of the continuous spectrum of a Coulomb system of three particles. The basis functions are represented in the form of a convolution of two quasi Sturmian functions, each of which satisfies the inhomogeneous Schrödinger equation. The asymptotic form of each basis function in the so-called three-particle region is prescribed by a six-dimensional outgoing spherical wave. As an application we consider the (e, 3e) process on a helium atom. Results of calculations of the cross section are in agreement with experimental data. © 2015 Springer Science+Business Media New York
