An in depth literature review was conducted into the relative influence of conduct problems and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in the development of child/adolescent psychopathy. Lynam (1996) wrote that children/adolescents exhibiting behaviors of both were 'fledgling psychopaths;' however, recent evidence suggests that if youth with comorbid conduct problems and ADHD exhibit a persistent form of antisocial and/or psychopathic behavior, the cause is primarily due to the levels of conduct problems, not the influence of ADHD. This article looks at the three perspectives regarding the development of psychopathy: (1) Conduct Problem Mediation, (2) the Independent Position, and (3) the Comorbid Subtype. The studies examining the three perspectives found that the Conduct Problem Mediation, not the Comorbid Subtype, was the most important in the development of psychopathy. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.

Though many of the previous studies have been devoted to internal due date assignment in a wafer fabrication factory (wafer fab), very few among them considered the allowance added to a completion time forecast. In this way, the probability of on-time delivery is only about 50%. Methods based on confidence intervals generate completion time forecasts with very wide ranges and are not practical. From a novel viewpoint, Chen and Wang (2010) incorporated the hybrid fuzzy c-means and back propagation network (FCM-BPN) approach with a nonlinear programming (NP) model for the same purpose. The FCM-BPN-NP approach is modified in this study with some innovative treatments. At first, the BPNs of all categories are applied to predict the completion time of a job. After predicting the completion time, the inclusion interval can be derived with the NPs of all categories. Subsequently, a two-stage aggregation procedure is applied to measure the consensus among the inclusion intervals that are then aggregated in a collaborative way. Parameters in the BPN will be modified twice to determine the upper and lower bounds. Finally, the consensus is fed into another BPN for refining the completion time forecast. According to experimental results, the proposed methodology outperformed many existing approaches in reducing the average allowance. The advantage over the FCM-BPN-NP approach was up to 17%. In addition, the proposed methodology also guarantees that all jobs can be finished before the established internal due dates, without adding too large a fudge factor, and without sacrificing the accuracy of the completion/cycle time forecasts. © ICIC International 2011.

The aim of this study is to empirically investigate the effects of social network sites on learning satisfaction and learning performance of college students in Taiwan. The properties observed on social networks sites including social network ties of students, the absorptive capacity of social network groups, the expected associations, the knowledge gained and shared on networks, as well as the perceived value of social networks. 165 questionnaires were collected. The results showed that knowledge gained, expected associations and knowledge sharing significantly affect the degree of satisfaction of college students. The results also demonstrate that the more college students are satisfied with the activities on the social network sites, the higher the performance of the students tend to reach. This paper proposes an intelligent methodology to analyze and verify temporal relationships from multimedia document that supports the presence of multiple distributed multimedia objects, as well as interactive multimedia events. It also develops a temporal algebra system as multimedia synchronization model to maintain temporal constraints and to generate consistent multimedia documents. It eliminates conflict relation specification and reduces redundant relations to obtain minimal essential structural relations between multimedia objects efficiently. In addition, it reasons about not only definite information but also uncertain knowledge. The resulting model integrates the structural relation indexes, object attributes, quality class, and quantities for SMIL presentations, and it also benefits interaction stream serving. Temporal semantics could be extracted from the solutions. Authors could easily describe the temporal behavior of multimedia presentation associate hyperlinks with media object over internet.

With the transformation of its population structure and economic environment, Taiwan is rapidly becoming an aging society. There is a growing need for elderly products, and therefore the operation of web shops that sell elderly products is important. In an era which values performance management, searching for key performance indicators (KPIs) helps to reveal, if the goals of a web shop are achieved. In the current study, researchers adopted the constructs of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) to evaluate web shop performance. Additionally, the Delphi method, along with questionnaires, was used to develop 29 indicators. Finally, the decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method assisted in identifying the level of importance of the constructs, in which " internal process" ranked top, followed by " learning and growth" , " customer" , and " financial" " Internal process" was the key construct that impacted other factors, while " customer" was an important construct affected by other factors. By understanding the influences and relationships among the constructs, enterprises can conduct additional monitoring and management to achieve functions of prevention, continuous improvement, and innovation in order to shape their core competence. © 2011 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau is carrying on with the "Three-year Sprint Program" of the Executive Yuan's "Economic Development Vision for 201., " Tourism becomes the star industry in Taiwan and it will play a major role in future global economic development. Not only the physical improvements are encouraged, the information service online is also important. Therefore, we apply Augmented Reality technology for implementing the virtual tourism website. The website provided the necessary information for the destination basically, and increased the multimedia effects for the website especially. Some empirical researches show that a website with a high level of interactivity and rich multimedia is more likely than a text-based website to persuade consumers. Therefore, the virtual tourism website of Taichung City is herein provided for studying the feasibility of Augmented Reality on virtual Tourism. In the work, we conclude the technology advantage of Augmented Reality and demonstrate the effects of novel interactive operation with users. The result of the research will be the valuable reference as a company applying the Augmented Reality for virtual websites. © 2011 IEEE.

Recent advancements in cloud computing allow smart phone provide a variety of movable services. This paper proposed a design of service, including human-centred recommendation service and travel-gaming service. The Smart-Travel System (STS) aids traveller with personal requires to tour by smart phone. STS provides personalised travelling real-time information, and automatically tells traveller when they show up around the task, which providing by government or local store, to make the trip like a game mission for user. No matter if the traveller deviated from the planned route or not, the STS could provide the new trip itineraries and allows the share on social network in real-time from any computer. According to the cloud-based service, STS is a new way to look up the travel information. This paper proposes an embedding scheme which can embed a message into an image and obtain minimal image distortion for applications which need a high-visual-quality stego-image. The message to be embedded is divided into sub-messages each of which is embedded into a pixel vector with three pixels. A sub-message is extracted from a stego-pixel vector by calculating the differences between pixels. The embedding capacity of an image using the proposed scheme can be more than one bit per pixel and the modification of a pixel is not more than one. Since the modification of pixels is minimal, applications using the proposed scheme can obtain a stego-image with higher visual quality than existing studies. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.

In this article, we examine whether gold could be an exchange rate hedge in Japan, using data from 1986 to 2007. In the literature on this area, most research focuses on the linear relationship-rather than the non-linear one-between gold returns and the exchange rate fluctuation of the Japanese yen. In the present paper, we use the depreciation rate of the yen as a threshold variable to distinguish between a high depreciation regime and a low depreciation (or appreciation) regime. With this specification, we build a threshold vector autoregressive model to investigate the causality between the gold return and the yen depreciation rate. We find that when the yen depreciation rate is greater than 2.62%, investing in gold could avoid the depreciation loss. Therefore, we conclude that the effectiveness of gold as an exchange rate hedge depends on the depreciation rate of the yen. This finding could benefit both the Japanese monetary authority and investors who hold Japanese yen in their portfolios. © 2010.

Unlike the traditional integrated supplier-buyer coordination model, this research incorporates overlapped delivery and imperfect items into the production-distribution model. This model improves the observable fact that the system might experience shortage during the screening duration and also takes quantity discount into account. This approach has not been discussed in previous integrated supplier-buyer coordination models. The expected annual integrated total cost function is derived and properties and theorems are explored to help develop an algorithm. A solution procedure, free from the convexity associated with an algorithm is established to find the optimal solution. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed procedure and algorithm. A sensitivity analysis is made to investigate the effects of five important parameters (the inspect rate, the annual demand, the defective rate, the holding cost, and the receiving cost) on the optimal solution.
