Titanium(4+) and zirconium(4+) complexes with pyridinedicarboxylic acid derivatives have been synthesized. The composition and structure of the synthesized 2,6-bis(diphenylhydroxymethyl)pyridine complexes have been corroborated by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The complexes activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO) are catalytically active in ethylene polymerization, Depending on the Ti/AlMAO ratio, the catalytic activity of the complexes varies between 90 and 420 kg PE/mol Ti h atm. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The catalytic activity of the titanium(IV) dichloride complex with the (4R,5R)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-bis(perfluorophenyldimethanol) ligand in the presence of a cocatalyst (polymethylaluminoxane, triethylaluminum, or triisobutylaluminum) in the polymerization of higher α-olefins (1-hexene, 1-octene, 1-decene) is investigated. It is shown that, depending on the types of cocatalyst and monomer and the molar ratio of components of the catalytic system, high- or ultrahigh-molecular-mass poly(α-olefins) with M w = (4 × 105)-(3 × 106) can be prepared. As an example of the liquid-phase hydrogenation of methyl-phenol ketone to 1-phenylethanol, variants of the construction of a pilot reactor are considered for performing long-term tests of heterogeneous catalysts of a fixed bed. Calculations for the reactor unit during hydrogenation on NTK-11 are presented as an example. It is shown that a cascade of three adiabatic reactors with a catalyst bed height of 4.5 m each is needed to ensure a residual reactant concentration below 1 wt %. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

It has been found that the activity of a catalyst for selective oligomerization (trimerization) of eth-ylene based on a chromium salt and organoaluminum compounds (OACs) can be substantially enhanced by the microwave irradiation of organoaluminum compounds directly prior to mixing them with the chromium salt and a pyrrole ligand. The effects of irradiation conditions and the nature of the reagents used have been studied. The catalyst obtained according to an optimal procedure outperforms known analogs in activity. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The results of studying the kinetics of the reaction of ethylene trimerization under the action of a homogeneous chromium-pyrrole catalyst have been presented. It has been shown that the reaction order with respect to ethylene decreases from 1.4 to a value close to 1 within 15 min after the start of the reaction, which is explained by the presence of two types of catalytic centers that catalyze the reactions of the first and second order with respect to ethylene. A model that includes the degradation of the second type of the catalyst during the reaction and inhibition of the activity of the first-type catalyst by the products has been proposed. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2012.

The kinetics of the metathesis polymerization of three isomeric 2,3-dicarbomethoxy-5-norbornenes on an original Hoveyda-Grubbs II type catalyst Has been investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The activation energies of metathesis polymerization and the homopolymerization rate constants have been calculated for all esters from experimental data. The polymerization rate constant of endic acid dimethyl ester (endo,endo-2,3-dicarbomethoxy-5- norbornene) is almost two orders of magnitude lower than that of the reaction of exo,exo-2,3-dicarbomethoxy-5-norbornene. Selected parameters of the microstructure of the resulting polymers are presented. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A rapid method for quantitative determination of the composition of statistical terpolymers of styrene, butadiene, and isoprene by IR attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy is described. A quantitative model is designed with the aid of 1 H NMR spectroscopy. This method does not require that the test samples be dissolved or their thickness be monitored precisely, and records the IR spectrum of the rubber rapidly (<5 min). It is easily reproduced and has good convergence. The relative error is less than 5 %. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

A promising ternary copolymer of styrene, isoprene, and butadiene, synthesized by anionic polymerization in solution, was subjected to chemical postpolymerization modification using the following branching and endcapping agents: tin and silicon tetrachlorides, N-methylpyrrolidone, and Michler's ketone. The combined method of chemical modification of the copolymer performed in the two-stream mode (branching and endcapping), with the subsequent mixing of the streams, is the most efficient. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
