Aprocedure is presented for studying flake graphite used in OOO Gruppa Magnezit for quality evaluation and possible application in carbon-containing material manufacture. Results are provided for studying graphite from various deposits within Russia, China, Brazil, India, Norway, and Africa. The significance of entirely new graphite quality indices and their interpretation is demonstrated in accordance with the procedure proposed. © 2017 Springer Science+Business Media New York

Industrial test approval is carried out in AO Magnezit Combine for Satkinsk magnesite separation technology using an x-ray transmission separator XSS(T). Favorable results are obtained with a “dry” enrichment method of x-ray transmission separation. A procedure is worked out for enriching magnesia raw material of different quality using magnesite (SiO2 content not more than 1.1%; CaO not more than 2.1%) corresponding to specifications for producing standard grades of basic composition objects. © 2016 Springer Science+Business Media New York

The working layer of a CBCM tundish lining provides unit operation for ten hours of metal pouring. Development stages are provided for second generation torcrete mix compositions of the trade mark Dalgun. Results are given for petrographic study of the working lining layer of periclase and periclase-forsterite compositions after service. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

A new digital analysis procedure is developed for microstructural study of fuzed periclase structural elements aimed at objectivity. The main parameters are presented distinguishing the proposed method from a normal linear method by means of chords. An example is provided of crystal sizes for fuzed periclase produced by the Magnezit Group and other producers, measured by old and new methods. Checking fuzed periclase with an MgO content of more than 97.5% with a different CaO/SiO2 ratio in periclase-carbon refractories did not reveal the effect of this parameter on life in a steel-pouring ladle lining. © 2015 Springer Science+Business Media New York

A simulation of the behavior of nonporous single-crystal magnesium oxide under conditions of heat loading that approach the operating conditions of casting ladles in ferrous metallurgy is performed by means of mathematical methods. Both numerical and analytic methods are used for the calculations. The temperature and mechanical stress fields and such breakdown parameters of materials as the moment of appearance of cracks, the thermal stability criterion (breakdown temperature drop of surface of material), etc. were determined as a result of the calculations. Results of calculations are presented and an analysis of the application of mathematical methods to the simulation of different heat treatment regimes of a material is performed. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

The phase and chemical compositions of the ilmenite concentrate, both starting and reduced at t < 1150°C, are studied. The efficiency of the developed method over the depth of reduced iron titanates is shown. The basic laws of the phase distribution of iron and titanium during reduction are established. © 2012 Allerton Press, Inc.

It is noted that under conditions of increasing competition among refractory producers there is a greater tendency of Russian refractory manufacturers to expand the production of oxide-carbon refractory objects, unmolded refractories, the production of high quality raw materials, and creation of the latest production processes, in particular the use of nanomaterials. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

OOO Gruppa Magnezit has developed a new generation of periclase cement-free concretes based on a MgO-SiO 2binder with a service temperature from 1500 to 1700°C depending on filler composition. The technology assimilated makes it possible to prepare refractories of complex shape for lining elements of CBCM intermediate ladles and other units. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

The thermal fields of the refractory linings of metallurgical equipment are investigated. Using as an example the lining of a steel-teeming ladle, mathematical modeling of the thermal fields in preliminary heating of the ladle and during smelting is performed. An approach to the construction of thermal fields, assuming the presence of defects in the lining and in the case of intersecting thermal fields, is proposed. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
