Analytical models have been constructed for the stress-strain determination by using projectioniterative schemes for implementation of the finite-element method for shell-type structures with rectangular openings under plastic deformation. The variation of opening parameters, quantity, and spacing allows one to study the formation and transformation of plastic strain zones in the course of loading for various deformation curves. Merging of the zones leads to a decrease in stiffness; this fact is used in predicting the load-carrying ability of shell-type structures with openings. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Reactions of N-(alkyl-, benzyl-, arylsulfonyl)bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-exo- 2-ylmethanamines with 2-(chloromethyl)oxirane in the presence of tetramethylammonium iodide gave a number of cage-like N-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl) sulfonamides, as well as N-(exo-5,6-epoxybicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-exo-2-ylmethyl)-4- nitro-N-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl)benzenesulfonamide. The latter was also synthesized by oxidation of oxiran-2-ylmethyl norbornene derivative with peroxy acids. Opening of the epoxide ring in N-(oxiran-2-ylmethyl) sulfonamides in reaction with benzylamine followed the Krasuskii rule, and the aminolysis of N-(exo-5,6-epoxybicyclo[2.2.1]-heptan-exo-2-ylmethyl)-4-nitro-N-(oxiran-2- ylmethyl)benzenesulfonamide chemoselectively occurred at the side-chain epoxy group. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

In order to develop a nonstationary theory of eddy-current testing, analytical spatiotempo- ral distributions of the abscissa and ordinate of the elementary vector-potential in the air above a plane surface of an orthotropically conducting composite are obtained using the multidimensional Laplace transform for an expanding zone of propagation of an electromagnetic field in the case of application of excitations from a point element of a plane current contour. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2012.

The review analyzes methods for the synthesis of amino alcohols containing cage-like norbornene, norbornane, and adamantane fragments. Such reactions of amino alcohols as selective functionalization of hydroxy and amino groups, as well as heterocyclizations with formation of nitrogen- and oxygen-containing heterocycles, are considered. Biological activity of cage-like amino alcohols and their derivatives and their use as ligands in catalytic asymmetric syntheses are discussed. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Combined PVT-cycle with gallium-arsenide high-temperature solar cells and solar radiation concentrator is proposed to increase the energy performance of solar power plants. Cooling of the solar cells is carried out by means of the coolant which is the cycle fluid of the steam turbine cycle. Purpose: To determine the quantitative indicators of combined PVT-cycle. Temperatures providing high efficiency must be found. Methodology: The research was conducted based on analysis of the function of the overall efficiency of the combined cycle and analysis of its first and second derivatives. The function of the overall efficiency was constructed using the approximation of experimental research for gallium-arsenide solar cells and analytical relationships for the thermodynamic Rankine cycle. Findings: The values of efficiency of combined PVT-power plants with unijunction and heterostructure solar cells were received. The waste heat was used in classic steam turbine cycle. Originality: The methodology allows us to determine, for the first time, the temperature of the solar radiation receiving system, which provides optimal combined conversion performance indicators. The quantitative values of efficiency of combined PVT-cycles were found. Practical value: The method determining the optimal efficiency indicators can be applied when designing the reception systems of prospective PVT-power plants and other systems with similar thermal conversion cycle.
