RESEEPE will bring together design and decision making tools, innovative building fabric manufacturers and a strong demonstration programme to demonstrate the improved building performance through retrofitting. The core idea of the RESSEEPE project is to technically advance, adapt, demonstrate and assess a number of innovative retrofit technologies. Reductions in the area of 50% will be achieved in terms of energy consumption .A systemic process will be also implemented that will allow the selection of the best possible retrofiting mix, customised to the needs of the particular building.. Several remarkable innovative technologies and materials will be integrated in the retrofitting process: - Envelope Retrofitting: Ventilated Facades, Aerogel-based Superinsulating mortar, Wooden Insulating Wall Panel and VIP Panel - Integration of RES: PV Energy, Thermal Collectors - Energy Storage Systems: Thermal storage and PCMs - Nanotechnologies and smart materials: EC/PV Windows - ICT: Strategies at building and district level - Intelligent Building Controls: HVAC systems The RESSEEPE framework will be validated and refined by a strong demonstration programme, envisaging the renovation of 102.000 square meters of public buildings, arriving to a total renovation of 205.000 square meters that will be deployed in the following years. The estimated average of energy consumption in the renovated demo sites, on final energy, will be 66 kWh/m2year, representing a 63% of reduction in energy consumption compared to the current situation. CO2 emissions will be 48,15 kg/m2year, corresponding to more than 60 % of reduction. The total emissions avoided by the demo sites will be 2257 tCO2/year. Associated investment costs to building renovation are expected to represent a maximum of 19% on average of the total costs of building an equivalent new building in the same location. On average, the return on investment will be around 7,6 years.

The NeTTUN 54M project will enable groundbreaking change in the construction, management and maintenance of tunnels in pursuit of the goals of NMP.2011.4.0-2 via 9 focussed WPs addressing key scientific and technical challenges: (i) a multi-sensor ground prediction system for TBMs to enable effective look-ahead during boring; (ii) a robotic maintenance system that enables automation of inspection and exchange of drag bits and disc cutters; (iii) the design of cutter tools with increased lifetime; (iv) a system for modelling of global risks on tunnel projects in order to quantify and manage uncertainties; (v) systems for modelling and controlling the impact of tunnelling on surrounding structures; (vi) a Decision Support system for tunnel maintenance management. The improvements enabled by this work programme will enhance every aspect of the lifecycle of tunnelling: from design, to construction, and maintenance of Europes extensive tunnel legacy. Each of the 21 partners in the NeTTUN Consortium Industrial, Research and Development and SME has been invited to participate because of unique scientific expertise and tunnelling sector experience. Ecole Centrale de Lyon, a French top-level engineering school involved in international research, will be the NeTTUN project coordinator. NFM, the French Tunnel Boring Machine manufacturer, will manage the scientific and technical aspects of the project. Both these organisations will work as a team. NeTTUN project results will impact the tunnelling industry by enlarging business perspectives, with productivity increase; delivering underground operations with zero impact on surroundings; answering societal needs by improving safety; and strengthening competitiveness of European industry. The Consortium will demonstrate project results on the site of Metro Line C construction under Romes ancient monuments, as well as with OHL on the Guadalquivir, and Razel on the Frjus Tunnels. Dissemination, Exploitation and Gender Equality Committees will ensure the Consortiums activities and successful project results are promoted to the target audiences of the general public, the tunnelling industry and education and academic sectors.

Built2Spec brings together a new and breakthrough set of technological advances for self-inspection and quality assurance that will be put into the hands of construction stakeholders to help meeting EU energy efficiency targets, new build standards, and related policy ambitions. B2S will expand upon a cloud based construction support platform, conceived following the most advanced integrated design and delivery framework for the building sector and hosting applications that facilitate worksite activities and quality compliance by putting knowledge in hands of contractors, in the form of shared design specifications and 3D models, installation guidelines, information on regulatory frameworks, and help from construction experts on smartphones and tablets. New self-inspection technologies managed within the platform and developed in the project include: Special IR camera in smartphones coupled with new mathematical reverse models for on-the-fly analysis of existing buildings envelope thermal properties Rapid BIM modelling via instant 3D capture with smartphones, passed via the cloud to the refurbishment team back-office, allowing accurate instant energy efficiency evaluation, quality check and streamlined quotation process Portable, innovative low pressure air tightness technique allowing testing of occupied buildings Smart sensor-embedded construction elements (identification, structural performance, and building environment parameters) Portable single device for Indoor Air Quality tests offering multi-gas capabilities targeting the most harmful gas pollutants A novel lightweight portable sound source for on-site acoustic tests to regulation compliance The B2S system will be integrated into the operations of SME contractors, large construction firms, and end user clients directly within the consortium and work program activities, assuring systematic and scientific performance measures, feedback and powerful exploitation and dissemination strategies.
