Mine waters containing dangerous heavy metals are a significant environmental problem. Traditional methods of purification do not make it possible to completely eliminate impurities. In this work, the results of sorptive studies into the recovery of nonferrous metals from the mine water of a copper-zinc deposit are presented. Laboratory experiments for the selection of the optimal material and extended tests for the selected sample of a Lewatit TP 207 ion exchanger were performed. The possibilities of using ion exchangers to eliminate ions of heavy nonferrous metals are presented, and their capacity and selectivity indices relative to the sorption of nonferrous metals are determined. © 2013 Allerton Press, Inc. This study is associated with the solution to the blending problem of the charge for the output of ready articles. The main requirements are claimed to the specific surface and the packed density of the powders of basic brands PML0, PMS-1, and GG. The dynamics of the development of the dendrite depositions for powders of mentioned brands with the simultaneous registration of the cathodic overvoltage is investigated under industrial experimental conditions. The procedure is developed and the results of the continuous monitoring of the deposition growth with the direct immersion of a video camera into the electrolyte are presented. The reproducibility of the results is evaluated statistically. Based on the galvanostatic crystallization model of the dendrite deposition on the rod electrode, the dynamics of varying the density (N) and radius (r t) of growing tips on the growth front is calculated. It is established by variance analysis that structural parameters N and r t are individual for depositions of every brand, so that the preparation conditions of the deposition during the electrolysis should be strictly fulfilled as the charge forms. © 2013 Allerton Press, Inc. The differences in the electrochemical behavior of palladium and platinum in the individual and mixed ammonia-nitrate eluates from silver refining, insufficient for selective electrowinning of palladium, were revealed and studied. The possibility of obtaining the binary alloys of metals from the platinum group was shown. A method for the preparation of platinized titanium anodes by platinum electrodeposition on the titanium cathodes from palladium-depleted electrolytes of refining at OAO Uralelektromed' was suggested. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Complex forms of palladium and platinum forming in ammonia-nitrate solutions during the desorption of platinum group metals (PGM) from the VP-1P anionite are investigated. The possibility in principle of using VP-1P anionite for the removal of PGMs from electrolytes in the technology of silver refining is confirmed. © 2012 Allerton Press, Inc. Source

Heap leaching of oxidized, complex, and waste copper ores of the Volkovskoe deposit is considered. Based on the results of an investigation, the preliminary granulation of milled ore with sulfuric acid (25-75 kg/t ore) is recommended. Introduction of this procedure leads to a decrease in the leaching time by 15-30% and allows one to obtain solutions more concentrated by copper. For 90-100 days, the recovery of copper into the solution amounted to 65-72% for the waste ore, 76-78% for the oxidized ore, and 46-50% for the complex ore. An increase in leaching time leads to an increase in the recovery of copper from all types of ores. © 2010 Allerton Press, Inc. Source
