The special features of diagnosing disks of gas turbines of gas-compressor units by the ultrasonic flaw detection method are considered. The efficiency of detecting crack-type defects in disks of HPT and LPT rotors under the first tooth of fir-tree slots of the disks in the area of trapezoidal grooves for tightening plates is shown. The application of the ultrasonic flaw detection method substantially increases the reliability of crack detection. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The features of the integrated diagnostics of the discs of gas turbines of gas-compressor units using eddy-current and dye-penetrant testing are considered. The effectiveness of the detection of the crack-type defects in HPT and LPT discs under the first tooth of the fir-tree slots of the discs along the contact line of the teeth of the comb and blade butt are demonstrated. The calculations of the stress–strain state allowed the estimation of the occurrence of cracks in the fir-tree slots of discs, as well as the service life of discs up to crack formation at extraordinary operating temperatures. Integrated quality control by eddy-current and color capillary nondestructive testing provides reliable crack detection in details without serious costs for mechanical preparation of items for inspection along with a substantial reduction of the labor-intensiveness and depth of the inspection. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Results from tests of the modernized moisture separator-reheaters MSRs-500-1 with Powervane louvers developed by Balcke-Dürr company are presented. A procedure for calculating the hydraulic characteristics of a flow metering orifice verified through a comparison with the results of calculations carried out according to the relevant Russian state standard is presented. The use of the proposed procedure makes it possible to obtain the required accuracy of liquid flowrate measurements in the cases when the instrumentation unit fitted with a flow metering orifices does not fully meet the requirements of the standard. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc., 2012.
