The charging programs for a blast furnace with a nonconical charging system are investigated. On that basis, rational charging conditions are developed and tested. Thermodynamic analysis of the reduction of iron and the material balances of carbon shows that the CO2 levels in the blast-furnace gas may be maintained by lowering the carbon consumption in the direct reduction of iron from its oxides. To this end, natural gas and blast-furnace gas are injected into the furnace or else some of the oxidized sinter and pellets may be replaced by reduced pellets. © 2013 Allerton Press, Inc. Source

OAO Novolipetskii Metallurgicheskii Kombinat (NLMK) is one of the largest producers of electrical steel in Russia and the world, with more than 50 years’ experience in the manufacture of transformer steel and more than 25 years’ experience in the manufacture of dynamo steel. The steel is produced to both national and international standards and meets the highest customer requirements. New products and improved technologies are constantly being introduced at OAO NLMK. Information is presented regarding the production of new grades of electrical steel (in particular, transformer steel with laser treatment, transformer steel of thickness 0.23 mm, and highly permeable dynamo steel).
