The results of investigating the effect of potassium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid on the thermophysical and physicomechanical properties of homopolypropylene are presented. It is shown that the use of the given nucleator at the extrusion stage makes it possible to produce polypropylene with high elastic strength characteristics. Improvement in the physicomechanical properties of the polymer modified with potassium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid is accompanied with an increase in the degree of crystallinity of the polypropylene. © 2014 Smithers Rapra Technology.

Results are presented of a detailed study of commercial cis-1,4-butadiene rubbers, SKDN, Europrene BR 40, CIS-132 and SE-BR-1202D, carried out by PMR and carbon-13 NMR spectroscopies. Data are given on the isomeric composition and ?defective' sections of chains of the rubbers, and NMR spectra of olefinic ^1^3C carbons of the monomer units in 1,4-attachments of the rubbers and NMR spectra of methylene ^1^3C carbons of the rubbers are presented. The assignments in this study are provisional but it is concluded that the combination of high sensitivity and maximum resolution in NMR spectroscopy will make it possible to reveal new details of the chain microstructure and to improve the quantitative analysis of diene rubbers, including polybutadienes. © 2013 Smithers Rapra Technology.

The effect of Trigonox 301 (3,6,9-triethyl-3,6,9-trimethyl-1,4,7-triperoxonane) on the melt flow and organoleptic properties of PP was investigated. It was shown that the application of this peroxide at the extrusion stage made it possible to synthesise a polymer with controllable impact strength and a reduced content of volatile substances in comparison with other types of peroxide. The physicomechanical properties of PP were retained when Trigonox 301 was used. © 2013 Smithers Rapra Technology.
